I'm going to try out flats again and I'm curious how they sound with the sansamp driver. I can't tell if they'd sound good with that overdriven tube amp sound or not.

How many of you do this and do you like the sound? I want to try out flatwounds again, but I use a pick a lot so I'm hoping you can get some good sounds with this combination.

All the flats I have tried have had the threaded silk ends and I'm just wondering if their are flats without that. It's a silly thing to worry about, but I hate how it looks and I don't like how it gets scraggly.

I agree with all of that totally. And when I feel like a fill isn't working out for some reason, it always seems best to just leave it out. One of the hardest things for me to learn was to keep things from being way too busy.

Yeah seems the like main problem would be hearing the bass, so with IEMs it seems like it would work great. Or just have the sound guy put quite a bit of your bass through your stage monitor if you don't have IEMs.

I've heard of people just taking their sansamp or other DI's and just running their bass direct with no amp when they play live. I don't know how well that would sound, but I'm curious how many of you do it.
