I had my Colin Warling bass mod’d to replace the existing p-bass and sidewinder pickups with two SD quarter pounders and a wengewood pickup surround. It sounds amazing now. The pickup ring gives some nice spots to anchor my thumb too.

The band I’m in is doing post-rock / math-rock. I find that when I add a little “juice” in sections the other guys love it and try to get me to do it more. I try to be restrained and just find what suits the song properly.

This is one that I particularly like playing with the guys.

We just released this video of for one of the songs off of the latest album for Another Neighbor Disappeared. Give it a listen. This track is much more post-rock than some of our others.

The general genre that I gave examples for is post-rock, though that can be a pretty wide range of styles with some being more driving/mathy and others being more atmospheric. Muddslide listed some of the huge hitters in the genre. I would also add God is an Astronaut.

There are some amazing bands around doing this kind of thing. A few that I would recommend and a shameless plug are: Coastlands The Way Home, by Long Hallways Sanskara, by A Collective Subconscious Another Neighbor Disappeared (We're mastering a new album right now)

Do you mind elaborating? Is it the paid bits of the site that you think are off? im always a bit skeptical of add-on "services" that sites offer.

I am sure that there are originals bands all across the spectrum. I think that some of it has to do with the goal of the audition. For example when I was writing more stuff on guitar I had a definite opinion about how all of the other parts should be played. I could see an established...

I hadn't messed around much with the gig/map listing yet. That looks like a good way to track events that could be just pushed out/posted on the bands Facebook page. Now to start booking shows........

Thanks for the input. It seems like RN might be the best to make sure is the preferable one-stop shop to link to for a venue owner that we approach. I'm not sure that we'd be ready to consider doing song sales through the site instead of cds. I still like getting cds when I go to shows.
