    New bass day!

That's the one, thanks for correcting me. For what it's worth, my understanding is that exposure to u.v. light will darken it in time.

    New bass day!

I have the exact same instrument, very nice. The fretboard on mine also looked dry and pale, lemon oil did not change it. I think it is the type of wood. It is not rosewood because that now falls foul of some E.U. regulations concerning endangered tree species. I think it is laurel, could be wrong.

Have you played an instrument into “relic” condition naturally?

My '74 jazz bass, used for recording and gigging for about 45 years, still gigged today.

    Question about tube amps

My late 70's fender studio bass combo is still using all the original factory fit preamp valves. Gigged about three times a week, studio work in between, for over two decades in my ownership. The power valves (6x6l6gc) changed near enough every year, J.Js seem the best of the bunch to me.

What Are Some Of Your Favorite and Least Favorite Bass Combo's ? ? ?

M.P.G. no idea, curb weight I would guess about 50kg, really heavy. Fender saw fit to fit just one strap handle on the top, the same one they used in their amp heads no side handles. It always makes me laugh when a fit, healthy young fella kindly offers to help us lug the gear in at a gig, I...

    What?

    Is Markbass really all that??

Poor quality control/stupidity on my part. I've just realised that I have to quote a posting for it to appear in my reply, doh. I'll get the hang of it eventually!.

    Is Markbass really all that??

    Couldn't agree more.

    Is Markbass really all that??

I agree with everything you say. I suppose I simplified my post to avoid having to type too much (really poor typing on my part !) When I mentioned specification I had things like process control, cleanliness, quality control etc. in mind. To reach the same specification I presupposed that...
