Yes the Helicore solo set is probably a good idea. I tried Velvet Garbos in the past and with my string heights the bass wasn't producing much sound but that was also before I took my bass for a major set up- repair. I don't know, I was happy with the way the bass sounded when tuned a whole...

So I tuned my bass ( Czech carved 2002) one step down using the d'addario set and I really like the sound and feel of it. The sound is more open and the strings are much less stiff. Would anyone have any idea what kind of strings would have the elasticity and tension that the d'addario set has...

+1 Also 2341212 -> 1 (which means you're melodically grouping your quarter notes in groups of 3-2-2 starting on beat 2 and thinking of 1 as an arrival point every 2 bars) helps me, especially in faster tempos.

Hmmm...I remember i was considering those before ending up with the Garbos (which,by the way, are great strings ). I recently switched to Evahs but I can't say I like them. Can't go back to thin G strings after playing the Garbo G...I also don't like the tension and the "very focused but simple"...

Any ideas for a set with string diameters G~0.90 D~0.90 A~0.95 E~110(like the Garbo set) BUT of a little higher tension than the Garbo set( 25kg per string)?

Thanks for the feedback. I plan to buy the Underwood when I get some extra cash .I'll see if I can mix the two just using the Main Input on my amp and the Effects Return. If that doesnt work I'll have to find some more cash to get the Headway so I can mix the Underwood with the Realist. Or maybe...
