New Electro-Harmonix Battalion Bass Preamp and DI

After owning and using the Battalion for a year now, I can offer a long term opinion on this pedal. I am still very pleased with the pedal despite a few shortcomings which to be fair are typical of these "all in one" type magic boxes. The preamp and distortion section are fabulous in my...

The Official Ibanez TMB Talman Bass Club

After owning my TMB 100 for a year now, I can confirm that this is a great pass that shoots well above it's price range. It sounds and plays great and is still my go to bass even amongst more expensive basses. I also love the vintage offset body look and color scheme, mint green with white...

The Official Ibanez TMB Talman Bass Club

I had a problem with one tuner, the "leaf" broke off entirely. I called Sweetwater and they sent a replacement. Fortunately I haven't noticed any problems with any of the other tuners. My volume/blend pot also came not working, but it was the quick connect loose.

New Electro-Harmonix Battalion Bass Preamp and DI

I like the Battalion distortion alot and it is very flexible with the pre/post/dry switch. Is just a shame that the noise gate sucks. Distortion is a simple circuit, but compression and noise gate are much more complex, hence why cheap versions generally aren't very good.

    Electro-Harmonix: Battalion review

I also enjoy the Battalion myself. Unfortunately the noise gate doesn't close fast enough for my taste and makes a slight glitch noise if you allow a note to decay. I also used the SansAmp Bass Driver for years exactly as it was intended, I stopped bothering with amps on stage when it became...

    NUX Loop Core Deluxe

Just picked this up today. Pretty great little looping and micro recording system. Comes bundled with a heavy duty dual extension pedal that can either control looping and rhythm functions or select loops to allow seamless switching between song sections. The Loop Core Deluxe is extremely easy...

    Caline CP-59 Driver DI

I know it's an older thread, but I just ordered the CP60. Figured for $30 it's worth a shot. If it's decent it will serve as a backup/second rig to go with my A rig, a EHX Battalion that I picked up for $75. I have used the SansAmp BDDI for years as my sole piece of stage equipment. Stopped...

New Electro-Harmonix Battalion Bass Preamp and DI

I know its an old thread, but in case anyone else comes stumbling in to this. I ended up getting a Battalion and I'm very pleased with it for the price. The compressor is OK. It increases the noise, which can happen with compression, but the noise gate is almost useless. It takes too long to...

Looking for recommendations for a preamp/DI pedal

Thanks for the replies. I'm kinda a casual user here so I didn't think to search first before starting a new thread. For anyone interested I ended up with the Battalion, which is actually really good, except that the compressor raises the noise floor and the noise gate closes too slowly to be of...

Looking for recommendations for a preamp/DI pedal

I have been using a Tech 21 SansAmp BassDriver DI for almost 20 years and my original unit now needs some repairs. I figured this would be the perfect time to try something new. In particular, I am looking into the EHX Battalion, the MXR M80 Bass DI+, the Eden WTDI, the Radial Bassbone, and the...

The Official Ibanez TMB Talman Bass Club

Have had mine for almost two months now and I am still completely blown away by how good it sounds and how well it plays. I think the neck being fairly more substantial than their SR necks gives these basses a bigger tone and more sustain. My only minor con I have with this bass is the him on...

Damn I didn't know the 310 came in any other color besides green metal flake. That silver flake looks incredible. May have to skip some bills this month and order one up!

Controversial Opinion: Gibson Basses Questionable Design Choices

I'm not sure who this is directed at but I have been saying the same thing that is stated in the Fender article. Some people have said that the P bass is just a bigger Strat, when the P bass was designed and released first with the Strat's body design being chosen based on the success of the...

Hipshot Type A Bridge is a good fit for this. I am very happy with the bridge they use on the recent runs. I may change it to a higher mass bridge at some point but it isn't a priority for me. Will add an active bypass first and then replace the pickups. I was kinda disappointed that I missed...
