Caline CP-59 Driver DI

So cp59 or cp60? Cp59 has mid knob which is very interesting
Yeah it does that. Don't know if you're findings are the same Chase.

My take on the CP-59 is it's a straight forward preamp, nice for tone shaping but for dirt needs paired with something else. Gnd ift/Gain Change gives a tiny wee boost in down position.

The CP-60 is more the Preamp/Drive pedal. Gain and Harmonics add the dirt. The Mix pot adds your bass signal with the dirt if you feel there's not enough bottom end.

I know it's an older thread, but I just ordered the CP60. Figured for $30 it's worth a shot. If it's decent it will serve as a backup/second rig to go with my A rig, a EHX Battalion that I picked up for $75. I have used the SansAmp BDDI for years as my sole piece of stage equipment. Stopped bothering with amps on stage years ago since all the sound guys take a DI anyway and just tell you turn your amp down to serve as a stage monitor. No point in carrying a fridge(8x10) around if nobody hears it anyway. Because of this I am always interested in one size fits all DI/preamps. When I have the money I'll be trying out the Microtubes Ultra, the Darkglass unit with the six band eq and the low pass/high pass sections, but for now I am very happy with the Battalion as I like having the low/high mids as compared to my V1 SansAmp which only has bass/treble. I also prefer the distortion from the Battalion as my sound is pretty heavily distorted all the time playing death metal/grind core and the blend of clean and heavy on the Battalion cuts through with more grind than the SansAmp.

But back on topic, I'll post a video with some sound clips and my thoughts when the CP60 arrives. Like I said for around $30 I figure if it doesn't sound good it'll make a nice paperweight at least.

Super old thread now but I really like the wine Cellar. I bought a Sansamp VT, a a Hartke preamp pedal and the wine Cellar. I only kept the wine Cellar. Great cheap piece of gear. I've owned it for about a year. I also have a Yamaha PB1 rack mount preamp. The Caline has a nice tube sound.

Just bought and received a $45 cp60 to cheaply replace my beloved VT DI $250 which recently got fried.
For the price difference, I can live with the Caline’s fewer features and flexibility.
Although,This little thing has a plethora of great clean tube sounds that more than cover what I need out of it. And if for some reason it also gets fried, I won’t have to cry, I’ll just replace it with another. Very pleased with it!

That was quite the resurrection, @avi :) well done... Sold my SansAmp a couple years ago. I'm going to be selling some things and its been awhile so I pulled out the Wine Cellar and the Behringer one last time to A/B them - I still prefer the Wine Cellar to both the SansAmp and the Behringer. Seems punchier and not as woolly as the BDI21 to my ears. I think I'll hold onto it... if for nothing else as a backup and change of pace.
