I've been fighting this battle with a Kiesel VB5. I tried to put LaBella tapewounds on it, and the sharp point of the anchor cut through the tape and started it unraveling. Expensive strings to ruin like that! I'm mulling over ideas to use epoxy or something to keep the tape from unraveling...

Labella makes double-ball tapewounds. I won't use anything else.

Wish I could find some of these. I've been unsuccessful putting tapewounds onto a Carvin-Kiesel Vader bass -- ruined a couple of strings with the tape coming unwound where the set screws cut into it.

All I can tell you is that LaBella black tapewounds are fantastic on a Steinberger XL-2.
