    The HandBox Amplification Thread

It's been a few years but when I ordered my R400, it was basically customized - in terms of choosing some options, including the amp face, and the 2.67 ohm capability. It wasn't fully built until I ordered it. It's a glorious amp, by the way. This is a photo of it that he took when it was...

    Best 5 String Under $1K?

Another plug (the 3rd in this thread?) for the BTB33 by Ibanez... E-C 5-string 33" scale, closer string spacing. If you want to go E-C, this is the one if you can find one (seems like all the best basses get discontinued- kind of like a real work of literature goes out of print while books aimed...

    Need lighter cabs

I know the OP asks for 15's and I am sure there are some really good ones; for my money I am with you phephron- the Barefaced BB2 I own outperforms almost all 15's IMO. Mine has metal grill and is, I think, 29 lbs. It has a horn that can be rolled off to driver (if horn isn't your thing). It's...

    Official Barefaced Bass Cab Club

It's true there's a substantial price difference. And I in no way need more cabinetry - I have 5 different BF cabs. But back in the day - including not so long ago - I really liked some 10's + tweet cabs, such as Eden 410XLT or SWR Goliath II. I do kind of wonder how I'd like these. I have a...

One10T... who has one, how do you like it? Oddly, in my brief searches, I haven't found any post by someone who has one or reviewing it. It's been out almost a year, surely someone has some personal experience with one.

No longer available Ibanez SRH500F Fretless Semi Hollow Bass

I have one, excellent for getting a woody, upright-ish sound when played with that aesthetic in mind.

My advice - for what it's worth, but from my experience - and if financially feasible - would be to add a Two10s to the One10 you have. I know, I know - I hate to be the "just buy [something expensive not on the budget] and it'll sound better than whatever you asked about" guy... so disregard...

Regarding the Passing of SWR’s Steve Rabe

In the 80's and 90's I had an SWR SM-400, early model, no vent fan. Loved that, and the Goliath 4x10. I met him at a NAMM show once, over 30 years ago. Great guy. He liked to say that SWR stood for "poopie Works Right." LOL and RIP.

Do you need a backup bass.

The "likelihood" of failure is low; the consequences can be great depending on the gig. I have insurance on my car and house even though the likelihood of their destruction is low. And I have never totalled my car or burnt the house down. Still glad I had the insurance all those years. Also...

Do you need a backup bass.

I generally bring the bass of choice; and a Precision. It has a predictable sound for sound engineers, and does not need a battery so I don't have to keep a back-up maintained with fresh batteries. It can go without being called upon for a very long time, then get pulled out and be ready to go...

BassCliff w/ANB at The Ranch, 9/24/21

That's an awesome tip jar you've got there Cliff. I know what I like to see - and I like tip jars, lol. Do you have, or can you take, a good close shot of the tip jar? Gear talk is fine but there's no gear more important than this friend of the band.

    George “Commander Cody” Frayne, 1944-2021

He was a gregarious guy and liked to mingle with the crowd, at least in recent years. I saw him at Knuckledown Saloon in Kansas City a few years back. Between sets he wandered the crowd from table to table, talking to anyone who wanted to talk to him. I talked to him for a few minutes. Though...

    SOLD Ibanez BTB845V Modified OBO

Do you have the original E-C nut? How's the truss? How's the action- able to get it low? Particularly, when in the E-c format?

I had a rattle in my One10 that turned out to be a little mettle bracket that the screws securing the driver connect to on the backside, which had fallen off and (being very light) was stuck to the driver magnet. I had to remove the cloth grill, then the driver, to locate the buzz (thinking it...

Anyone try out the new NordyMute string mute by Nordstrand?

I have several of these, for various basses. I like them. I do understand when people say sometimes it sounds TOO muted. The slots for the strings are pretty tight and of course the strings themselves are not of uniform thickness. IMO those slots need to be loosened up, as I am sure they would...
