The E on my Fender 9050s does the same thing. Never noticed any difference in playability or sound.

Already saw him mentioned, but Pino. I think he's one of the most underrated bassists out there. Someone who has been a big influence to me that I don't feel gets enough recognition is Tommy Shannon

Norris Lake is the one closest to me. Flat Hollow Marina on the Claiborne/Campbell line I know has live bands on a regular basis.

Don't own one, but I love the instrument to death. My bass mentor probably owns about 10 or 15. When he started having so many, I started messing around with it and realized it's a whole lot of fun. Still waiting to pull the trigger on buying one though.

Another nod to Levy's. Love mine, and they'll be the only straps I buy unless something else knocks them off.

Recently put a set of Fender flats. They're great, and fit in right where you want your string to be tension and tone wise.

Alrighty. I'd check Seymour Duncan's Classic Stack J and Vintage J, if I was in your position. But probably a bit biased. I know a lot of guys are Lindy Fralin and Dimarzio fans as well too though.

I'm with ya here. There are some shapes that are so iconic for either basses or guitar that, aesthetically, they just don't work with me when seen on the opposite. The ones you mentioned being fine examples. They may play fine, but I just find it odd.
