It also has four strings, therefore I find it acceptable. It's so popular now I am wondering which other TB members have fallen prey to the uke.

Here in Nova Scotia, I gig quite regularly with Chalmers Doane who's quite a famous ukulele expert. He started a cross-Canada program which taught music in the schools via ukulele ensembles. It's used all over the world now. Chalmers plays 10 or 12 different instruments on a given gig (not many people know he was originally an upright bassist) but the coolest thing is his playing jazz on the uke. One of his protege's, James Hill, lives here in Nova Scotia now and I've gotten to play with him via Chalmers. James is one of the very best uke players in the world these days. Hang around these guys and you've *got* to go home and grab the uke!

That's sweet! I've been a fan of James Hill, but unfamiliar with the ukulele method. Very interesting stuff.
