Just replace the hardware with new +08 style fender. New tuners are considerably lighter and you dont have to drill any new holes. HMV bridge is nice, but It's not very friendly to top load the strings. Lighter tuners with a heftier bridge does make the balance more stable IME.

Been using nickels for a while on the p, but switched to dr high beams. It sounds zingy and clangy solo, but sounds thick and juicy in the mix(at least to my ears). Expected a scooped sound, but brings out the low mids nicely without having to fiddle with the eq. Loving the low tension.

Under the pickguard, mine has a sticker of the date my bass was assembled; in april 08 and my serial number starts with z8. New models have lighter tuners, high mass bridge and thinner finish.

1 has that hollowness to it, so it must be precision. What kind of bridge do you have on the Alleva? Vintage or hipshot?

Since the nut slot is chopped up, you can fit a warwick just-a-nut3 on that.

Fender 7250. Dont sleep. They can be had for 16 bucks at sam ash. Dadarios arent too bad for the price, but they feel too stiff for my liking. They feel like they're too tight to vibrate the way theyre supposed to.

I see that alot, but IME, 760fl's feel less tense than d'a chromes of same guage. Chromes in 105 feel very stiff and need more tension on the truss rod. 760fl feels just a bit tighter than fender 7250 in 105 guage, which are my goto rounds.
