I have the same problem with my Tobias Killer B, I found that the saddle height screws vibrate loose on occasion and when they do it rattles like crazy. Just adjust the height of the saddle so that both screws are touching evenly against the bridge.

Do you have a preamp with the bartolini's? They are designed to work best with one. Personally I find my bartolini's much darker than any stock fender pickup.

Are we talking about just dropping lets say the E string to D? If so then the amount of tension the string has would be reduced thus putting less stress on the neck. That may put the other strings slightly out of tune, the amount of which would depend on the instrument. That is at least my...

I've used them on 3 of my basses and thought that they were really good for the price (3 for $25). They don't keep there life as long as brands like DR or Blue Steels (which are my usual brands of choice). I'd definitely buy them again though. Give 'em a try I would say.
