Drummer as Lead Singer / Frontman?

I did just that for a while in couple different bands. One was a classic rock cover band, and the other was a swing band. I agree with moving the drum kit further forward. Another thing I did was angle the set about 45 degrees to my right. This left me less obscured, as the only piece of...

    BL underselling the band

IME, getting roughly 2x the regular fee (or more) for a holiday gig is pretty common.

    Tyrant Music leader?

I also agree with the posters that say you should take any reports of this guy with a grain of salt. I remember a number of years ago when I came into a church that had two different praise bands. I was told by a number of people that one of the bands was really bad and very difficult to work...

    Tyrant Music leader?

Maybe someone else asked this question and I missed it, but does this particular leader in fact know what a fretless bass guitar is? The only reason I ask is because I have had individuals refer to my upright bass as a "fretless." If the worship leader also suffers from this misconception, that...

Stupid things your bandmates have said.

In Germany, the letter H is used to denote B natural. I'm sure he didn't know that though.

    NEW RESPECT FOR CLASSICAL MUSIC

It was one of those tidbids of information that stuck with me from my music history classes. It always seemed like a pretty badass thing to do. Apparently, he would use a razor to shave his strings thinner. Of course this was back in the days of gut strings.

Is This The Right Way To Approach A "Mystery" Neighbor Drummer?

OR your phone number and a note that says, "call me maybe?" :D

    NEW RESPECT FOR CLASSICAL MUSIC

It is traditional for the concertmaster to give up his/her instrument to allow the soloist to finish. Depending on what has been discussed, the concertmaster or the assistant concertmaster may restring the soloist's violin onstage, or the soloist may choose to restring at the next break...

Hey I saw that guy last night...

And then he logged on to Tambourinetalk.com and started a thread titled "I just got kicked out of my band." :D

CWB Part 18: Clothing Optional (You Can Leave Your Hat On)

IMO, it's not the content of the fills aren't the main problem, it's that the drummer isn't keeping time during the fills and has to recover after playing many of them. Additionally, everyone need to remember to keep the internal clock going during the stops so that when things start back up it...

Ever hate a song so much you'd risk being fired?

This is exact feeling that a lot of cover bands tap into when they play old familiar numbers. Mark my words, in about 15 years there will very likely be folks wanting to relive memories of listening and dancing to that song that was so popular back in the summer of 2012.

Ever hate a song so much you'd risk being fired?

It is a very popular song. Bands that choose to play the current hits are out there playing it. Likewise, the fact that it is a very popular song would, indicate that more than the 11-year-old birthday crowd likes it. It should come as no surprise that the public at large often has different...

    Drum kit too big?

Then I suggest you shows these pics to the drummer. It would be the rare, exceptionally stubborn individual that would still insist on bringing a very large kit into those situations.

    Drum kit too big?

The OP states that the drummer is a good player, so I am assuming that means he isn't just hitting everything for the sake of hitting everything. Frankly, I think the OP may be borrowing trouble, as they haven't even practiced with this new guy yet. There is a darn good chance that he will...
