Squier Jazz Bass in Natural Finish

Well, I eventually pulled the trigger on this wee beauty. VM, 3 years old, but in pristine condition. Looks and plays beautifully. I was expecting to be inclined to change the pickups, electronics and possibly the bridge, but I’m really happy with it as it is. I’ve never seen a maple with that...

Squier Jazz Bass in Natural Finish

I’m looking to buy a 4-string Squier Jazz bass in natural finish. Does anyone on here know how the Indonesian-made Classic Vibe matches up with the Vintage Modified model, and if it’s worth the extra money?

    Fender Rumble Knobs

I dunno for sure, but from the communications I received from him, and the way he went about it, I got the impression the guy at Fender who dealt with my enquiry, and supplied me within the parts FOC, did it because he’s a good guy, rather than it being Fender policy. I guess I got lucky, but I...

    Fender Rumble Knobs

Hey guys, I’m the OP for this thread. I think I may have mentioned somewhere earlier in it that I did eventually manage to source the 2-screw, flat Fender badge and push-on ivory knobs, as per the original parts on the Rumble 500 combos and others. I wrote to Fender themselves and they very...

    Fender or Squier

Can anybody enlighten me as to how to decode the serial number of this Squier Jazz bass? I understand it is a Vintage Modified model, and that the ‘IC’ denotes Indonesian Cort as the factory of origin, but I’m not sure if the ‘S’ stands for Standard, or maybe even just Squier? I’m pretty sure...

Squier Jazz Vintage Modified Natural Finish

Yours looks gorgeous. Oddly enough, most of the Squier 5-bangers I’ve seen in natural finish do seem to have better-matched body sections that the 4-string natural finishes. Probably just coincidence.

Squier Jazz Vintage Modified Natural Finish

I guess maybe it’s to be expected that body sections might not match particularly well, given the price. Was yours a natural finish and, if so, did the sections match well? I’m trying to ascertain if the attached pictures of the ones I have seen (among others) are typical of the Squier natural...

Squier Jazz Vintage Modified Natural Finish

Hi, new thread... I’ve been keeping an eye open for second-hand Squier Vintage Modified Jazz basses. During my dips in and out of the usual possible sources, I’ve begun to notice a bit of a trend, namely that the sections of wood used to make the natural finish bodies can be very different in...

Need help understanding "D.I out", XLR out, etc.

Twice in the spaces of 3 months for me! Peace of mind tucked away in my gig bag, no bigger than the size of a portion of lasagne, will do just nicely. Like you said... a way to finish the gig.

You would think, wouldn’t you? In that regard, recent experience has been statistically improbable!

Need help understanding "D.I out", XLR out, etc.

Thanks. So if a D.I. box’s XLR output produces a mic level (lowest voltage) signal, I’m unsure what the 1/4” output from a D.I. box produces? I assumed it would be instrument level, to be compatible with an amp’s input, but I’ve also heard on here that the 1/4” will output a line level signal. I...

Need help understanding "D.I out", XLR out, etc.

Thank you, I feel I understand this better now, ahead of receiving my bass driver/D.I. box. So I guess I should also buy a spare XLR cable and carry that in my gig bag along with my box for backup in the event of amp/speaker failure. Just to clarify, when you said the box’s 1/4” output will be...

Need help understanding "D.I out", XLR out, etc.

Ah, so the D.I. box’s 1/4” output is designed to deliver the level of signal an amp normally takes. That’s good to know. Is the signal level from the box’s XLR output different to that from the 1/4” output?

Need help understanding "D.I out", XLR out, etc.

Thanks. Most of our gigs are in small clubs and pubs, so the run to the P.A. board isn’t any more than a few feet. The XLR cables we use to patch our microphones into the P.A. reflect this and are maybe around 20 feet in length. For this situation, would it still be better to use the XLR output...
