I have an Ibanez Portamento, srf I think. 2 Bartolini Mk1 and a bridge piezo. Had it for 2-3 years, studio use only, very few hours use. Went to record, and the Bartolini were silent, changed the battery, same. Piezo works fine. Any ideas?

Does anyone have any suggestions for getting a nice clean live sound at small Jazz clubs, playing an old German flat back double bass fitted with a David Gage copper head, and played through a Markbass LMIII. Thanks people.

Many thanks for all of your thoughts and advice. I will add that the fault has occurred at multiple locations and while using multiple new cables and leads. By the sound of it the cabinet seems to be the likely culprit.

This is now my concern, it is the only common variable between the three amps. I will continue to test to see if the intermittent fault occurs with more frequency before pursuing the company again. Thanks for the advice.

Tried the previous amps with multiple cables and leads, but unfortunately had no access to another cab. This would have been a sensible test I must admit.

Before I go completely out of my mind, your thoughts please. 18 months ago I purchased a Little MarkIII and NY121. Plugged in and switched on, with passive bass, new leads and cables, no clipping. Big fuzz and then power cut out. Switched on again and same thing, distorted signal, power cut out...

Each type of string has it's merits. It all depends on what sound you are going for.similar to instruments and technique.
