got the l2k in my pic several months ago. i named her Clear, after Clarence Leo Fender and a certain other dark toned queen from antiquity. best bass i've ever owned, out of probably 100 or so basses, p's, j's, rays, ibanez, modulus, fodera ... hands down.

The one in my profile pic. The last bass prototype Leo Fender worked on before his death - the G&L ASAT Bass. Spotted in a shop in Nashville a week ago with a price tag of $48,000 US. Really should be in the Smithsonian, IMO.

How did it go? It's funny how many ppl try to talk someone out of doing what they want to do rather than answering the question. We learn from doing this kind of thing. I converted a fretted bass to fretless, asking these kinds of questions. Got some "oh my god please don't do that"...

To the OP or anyone: why do you think the tone generated from a slap event comes from the string hitting just the last fret?

I have one. Love it. Insanely good especially for the money. The ability to solo the coils in the pup is awesome. Big difference between the neck, bridge and blended coil sounds, and all of them are good. Neck feels great. Eventually replaced the tuners, but not planning any other mods...

No help here, sorry. The Dark Night is a great finish, though. I have a Jazz American Pro II in that finish. Love it.

Right now, there's a "rash" of Ibanez ATK700's(the ones with figured tops, not the 300) available new for right at $300. They're usually $700 new, street price, but they're being discontinued/replaced by the newer version, the ATK750 (has an additional J pup in the neck position), so Ibanez...
