    How good are you?

Good question.. I played in a Rush Tribute band for 4 years. I did not sing, but did play keys in all the ways Geddy did, and the Guitarist sang, so we were a 3 piece band. Does that make me good? The band sure was!

    Trace Elliot ELF

I've never heard that either, and I do run (or used to) sound as much as I play. My trusty Elf has always been there when someone else's Bass amp acted up, and everyone loved using it! I was able to play one socially distanced, outdoor gig in June. I played both a Jack Casady, and brought out my...

    Just one single bass?

I play in a few bands, and each band evolves as new members are brought in. Myself.. once we start doing tunes again, I'll be playing Large Marge and a D tuned Jack Casady with one band, and a '62 CIJ PBass Reissue with a Drop D tuner in the other, and maybe a Rick 4001. Robin

    Double Bass Here I GO!

Thanks! I know Large Marge and I will have a long relationship together. As far as setup, That had been done by the previous owner. She has a C&C bridge pickup I haven't even tried yet, because the Bass projects well. The strings are a hybrid steel string that is supposed to feel more like a...

    Double Bass Here I GO!

Here I go, again, with some practical knowledge. Yes, The cheap Chinese Bass was a starting point. I ended up trading it, and $300 for a Jack Casady Bass, that did self destruct. The tail piece ferrules decided to pull out of the body. A little gorilla glue, and it's been my main Bass for a...

New bass (x2!) day. Guild Starfire vs Epi Jack Casady

I've been gigging with a lot of hollow/ semi hollow bodied Basses for a while. I LOVE the feel, and sound of a Gretsch 5123, but I'm finding that in the 2 bands I'm currently playing in, it's not right. Both bands have an acoustic and electric guitar. The bigger bodied Bass resonates too much...

Gig report: I was part of FOH for a music festival last weekend, and we ran sound for 22 acts, and and I played in 2 of them. One Ampeg amp wouldn't power up, so the Elf was used, and sounded great! The same Bassist brought a MarkBass amp the next day, as he played in a couple of the bands, no...

The OFFICIAL "Gretsch Bass Owners Club"

I've looked over the slightly non working tone pot with my Cabbie. I did wire it with push pull pots to go single coil. Mine does change the tone a bit, but not much. I have started culling the herd. I'm playing a 5123B, '72 4001 and Jack Casady pretty much all the time now.

Gig Report.. I was in unfamiliar territory.. A String Band Festival. I was also part of FOH crew. Played my Jack and Elf through the usual 1X12 Neo for The Hinges set. Heard nothing but good from everyone. As I was heading out, an Upright Bassist in the next band needed a DI, and he used my Elf...

Elf Gig Report! A good friend has built a stage and small amphitheater in his back yard, mostly for a 420 party every year for invited guests. This year, since 420 was a Saturday, it was a 3 day festival for about 150 peeps, and 11 bands! I was also part of PA setup and production, and played...

    The Trace Elliot V-type Club!!

Sadly, it is time to pass my V6 on to someone who will use it, because I'm not. It's been retubed with JJ's all around. It comes with a road case, and I live near Olympia, WA. Before I offer it to the masses, does anyone on this group want it? Robin

Gig Report and comments on previous posts. I was interested to learn that the Elf may have been based on the GP11. That was my first TE amp, and I used the preshape with the EQ off. Drove the front end hard, and never looked back! Because that's the way I learned to run the GP11, I drive my...

An AWESOME DI is one reason the Elf is my main amp. I have had the same experience regardless of the band I'm playing in, Bass I'm using, venue, or the FOH. At festival gigs, it turns heads and the sound guys love it, in small venues, it does the same. The DI is the one thing I don't have to...

I'm playing in an opening band this weekend, and the Bass Player in the headliner is OK with using my gear. They play a lot louder than we do, so I'll have the Elf at 4 ohms. I'll give a report next week! Robin
