The Trace Elliot V-type Club!!

Way cool thread. I'm in. Here is my Trace V8 and next to that is my V6 wearing a V8 grill for airflow. Legend has it that this particular V8 was used by Sting on his 1991 Soul Cages tour. I recently acquired this head with Sting's touring flight case. This along with the V6 are a powerhouse combo that is unrivaled. Def my fave out of my other tube amps. Now I just hafta find another NV Berg Cab to sit underneath the V6.

I may be wrong, but I don't remember the V8 being around before about 1997 / 1998, so would have been a later Sting tour (pretty certain I saw him using two SVT 8 x 10 cabs, stacked on their sides, around 1994 / 1995).

Last time I had my V-Type and V6 open I documented the inspection dates when the amps were assembled, respectively 1995 and 1996. I have not gotten around to doing this for my V8 yet, but the service manual is dated Jul 13, 2000.

@WalWarrior , if you are curious, the inspection sticker is inside the chassis.

Here is a gut shot of a V8. Note the sticker by the OT.

@corinpills A long range option if you really love the sound of the V6, but want less power and an 8 ohm output. Sell the V6 and keep your eyes open for a V4 or the earlier V-Type, which is the same amp. These were setup for 4 and 8 ohms and made about 225W.

The original V-Types were covered in green tolex. drool
I have a V4 the same as the picture for sale

Hello Talk Bass,
Well this is my first post on Talk Bass with a new account:).Previously I had occasionally posted on Talk Bass with a similar name.Though my past Talk Bass account has been rendered inoperative due to associated internet technical issues...:rollno: I just wanted to post pictures of my 1996? Trace Elliot V-Type All Valve Bass Amplifier Model No 5001.Earlier on I had owned a 1995? Trace Elliot V-type All Tube Bass Preamplifier Model No.5001 so I was familiar with this type of Hybrid Bass Guitar Preamplifier. It seems that not many of these Trace Elliot V-Type amplifiers were produced and finished in the green tolex or rexine covering and I have only seen maybe three? photos on the internet of Trace Elliot V-Type amplifiers just like the one I now own!

Never seen one with the cloth covered front panel. Of course that's the standard grill cloth used with the amps that are covered in rat fur, but I believe the front panel dips down over the outer edges of the chassis on the all-tube amps. My guess is the panel was harvested from a hybrid V-Type.

I think it look kinda cool. Congrats!

First time I have see that sort of handle on a V4

Some confusion going on here? That’s not all valve, or a V4, it’s a 5001, all valve preamp with mosfet s/s power section. I like the tolex better than the rat fur.
I’m tempted to re-do my V6 in tolex, but due to the scarcity of the amp, I may have a whole new shell made for it and keep the furry box in case I ever sell it (which I probably never will).

Welcome back!...do you still have that original 412 cab?
There is a green tolex V4 on here last week for 1400. In the past few months a V8..two v6's.

How is sting's v8 working for you?
