I've had the Mustang Japan, Squier Mustang VM and now the PJ version, I prefer the PJ hands down. Beefier sound, the satin finish on the neck is great, nice to have both pickups. I don't see much difference in craftsmanship versus the japanese version. Here's a video i just did, just phone mic...
