New PJ Mustang at Summer NAMM

I kind of want to try it, But in the back of mind its calling out for a way to blend the pick ups. Even leaving the switch and going with stacked pots. Maybe i just like to mess with things because theyre there. Great another sickness to add the to Chronic GAS

Caution! -

I just checked my truss rod, just to be sure, even though it's new, while there's still a return period.

Pretty sure all my other basses have 4mm nuts.
Tried a 4mm wrench and it didn't feel right - too loose.
5mm's is too big.

Turns out on mine a 3/16" allen wrench is a perfect fit. Just an 'FYI'.
Maybe someone else who has one of these should check it too,
to make sure it's not a fluke.

Of course it's 3/16". It's made in Mexico and not Japan. 3/16" is standard.

You mean when will America drop its archaic PITA measurements? (Kidding a little, us Brits still use imperial hex keys too, but I have to deal with it at work a lot and it's irritating).

So I was thinking about saving up for one of these, until I looked at the prices they're going for over here- over £700. Not really the affordable line I feel like they were being billed as, Brexit's not really helping either. I might have to settle for modding an SS Jag to my liking instead.

Most countries and companies have been metric for decades. The US is a notable holdout. If you want metric then teach your children to love it and wait for my generation to die off. It's not my fault but my contemporaries aren't gonna change.

Is that Imperial like the Whitworth system? I'm pretty sure some Brit bikes - Triumph, BSA, Nortons and such used to use that.

About the Jag - over here they go for a couple hundred. If you can do the work yourself, you might save a bit by putting in
different pickups, controls, wiring and such. But I'm not sure you'd come out much ahead if you had to pay to have it done.

Almost forgot -my MIJ Mustang re-issue, you just need a big screwdriver. No allen wrench.
It's more of a PITA if it needs to be adjusted though. To me anyways.

How is the new P/J in comparison to the 2013 Pawn Shop. I have to say, even though I really want a MIA, this little guy as really peaked my interest. Even more so since the 2013 model didn't stick around too long. I really enjoyed this through a Rumble at GC the other day.

I own a PS Mustang and I love it. There are a couple of differences from the PJ I played at GC last week:

1) I feel like the fit and finish on my PS is a bit nicer. Maybe I'm just trying to justify the additional $250 I paid for it, but the PS is a bit heavier and a bit classier looking, especially with the sunburst finish, pearloid pickguard and thumbrest. The PJ satin neck was definitely very nice, but I still prefer the look of the original Mustang bridge, and the PS is string-through-body. I don't necessarily care about the through-body thing, but you may. Also the fret ends on my PS are cleaner - I'd say the PS feels more like an MIA bass than the PJ.

2) The PS is definitely a one trick pony. It's GREAT trick, but it only does one thing. The tone knob is basically useless. The PJ has many more tonal options.

I really dig my PS Mustang and while I like the PJ, I'm not going to sell mine to get one. If I didn't have the PS I'd definitely be interested.

To be honest, I didn't get to side-by-side compare them, and the PJ I played through a MarkBass combo I'm not familiar with so I can't comment on the general tone comparison. The PS humbucker is LOUD, so I don't know how that would compare. The PJ I tried also had a noticeable volume drop between the P and J pickup, but I'm sure that could be fixed with a setup. I got my PS from Sweetwater and the setup was great - I haven't touched anything in a couple years since I got it.

Let me know if you have any other questions about the PS Mustang. Honestly, I'm surprised they weren't more popular - definitely a unique beast.

KJ Scriven is great talent and this dude playing bass his feel and lines are incredible. Tried the bass out at GC the other day really liked it probably buying one today and this EP also !
