For those who also need to know, and the 90 people who didn't have an answer, the size is 1 and 21/23". I replaced it with a tusq. Fits perfectly. Now to find a new 1 -3/4" nut for a 62 pbass.

Apparently the guitar was built or worked on by Gary Brawer in SF, CA. There was an old bus card inside the neck pocket. So I know the routing was done professionally. I guess the bass was originally owned by Third Eye Blind's bassist. (Not sure which bassist.)

Well, that's what I thought too: that it'd cost a sh*t load of money to get either one back to original. And it does seems like a players bass. It had all aftermarket parts: HI-A pickups, Badass II, Grover tuners...

I was given (yes free) a bass guitar recently that visually needed some work. I took it apart, stripped it and found by original stamps, markings, dates etc that I have a 1983 Fender AV Reissue P-bass neck and a mid-late 70's jazz body (3 bolt) that has been routed.(For a battery and also below...

I need to replace the nut on my japanese made squier bullet bass from 1984. I can't find the actual info for the neck width. I think its the same width as a Pbass...???

Anybody know what size the nut is? I need to replace mine. I measured 1 11/16. Would a 1 5/8 p bass nut work on this bass???

So I have had this guitar for almost 10 years it's never let me down gig after gig but now I'm not gigging and want to upgrade the sound. To start out I wanted to try upgrading the pots. So I hooked up 2 vol 1 Tone per fender and seymour's wiring diagrams. And I get nothing. No sound at all. I...

Well, now I'm going to just strip and paint it, put a new badass bridge on it (if it fits.) add a hotter pickup, and then put her back together again. Unfortunately I already bid on a neck on ebay, if I win it, I guess i'll have to buy a precision body and restore that. :hyper:

Because the body is too short or too small?

Could this work? I am new, obviously, to the "bass building" business. From pictures it looks like it might not work, but I thought I would ask before I buy a neck. I was planning on changing the bridge out too, but would I have to do anythign special to the bridge IF it does fit correctly...
