Yes bass is great and it’s cool to have 2 different voicings. I agree on machine heads , mine is also pretty stiff but it holds tune like a champ

Neck is heavy but actually bass is pretty well balanced , of course not like Ibanez SR but no noticeable neck dive

I just use classic EHX Deluxe Bass big muff . You have almost 3 pedals in one . Regular bass muff with clean blend , crossover side and noise gate you can use as ng, just to kill unwanted sustain or make something like gated fuzz
