Favorite Bass Fuzz right now

For context, I lost all my gear in a fire and had to re-purchase everything. Some effects I chose to see what else is out there, and I cam back to the old standbys I had before the fire because they simply deliver the goods.

For fuzz, my personal favorite has been the Wren & Cuff Super Russian. It's a Tall Font Russian (the best one IMHO) with some killer mods (I love the creamy switch and the flat eq instead of scooped). To top it off, it's got a Germanium preamp section so it basically has a built-in Phat Phuk, which is very popular for a good reason. You can also use both sections independently.

The only thing I don't like about it is that the true-bypass switches sometimes make a loud pop when engaged, so I'd prefer buffered. Other than that, it's a really special pedal!!

I like sputtery, starved, splatting fuzz and my fav is probably a Shoe Pixel clone I made.

I own or have owned and love many already mentioned here, including the Doom 2, Oxide, Diabolik, Pearl, Brown Dog, Depth Charge, Super Russian, Blackbeard (bluebeard clone), Lysis, Wizard, Mastotron and BEAD, but the one that makes me smile the most is also the Shoe Pixel, with the Blackbeard for muffy tones

It depends on what sound I am looking for, more or less fizzy vs mids vs width of sawtooth...perhaps from origin of circuit (which one) superfuzz vs rat vs tube screamer vs tone bender etc etc.
Among my contestants- Zevex Mastrotron, Wholly Mammoth clone (I have a few Joyo Fog aint bad) small run but the best for Doom: MXR Brown Acid (low end sustain) Small Sound Big Sound TAFM or Buzzz (a superfuzz type has an eq for low end) DOD Caracosa has been mentioned, Pharoah would be my Muff type, EQD Fuzz Master General and the newest still being analyzed Grit Spitter and Frost Giant Soma, both self oscillating sputter/starve pedals (for lead lines not chords)

What are your thoughts so far on the Grit Spitter?

My Tech21 Clean Boost/Fuzz pedal. I use it for a creamy milkshake smooth fuzz sound, rather than monolithic hugeness.
I recently got a tech21 English Muffy that has a more raucous fuzz,too.

The Big Muff 2 is my current favorite. Nano version. Recency bias probably but it sounds awesome. Also:
Lefa Pedals Mega Lefa, Supercool ‘77 Fuzz Blender, and EQD Gary for the gated, sputtery, out of control stuff.

What are your thoughts so far on the Grit Spitter?

fun as a barrel of monkeys. I have a Devi Ever Ruiner in storage somewhere... and I'm playing with a modular synth and looping ambient guitarist, so something that's slightly out of control is a good thing... as I said above I'm still testing it as to position in chain (presently first) and how it likes different basses, if passive bass is more or less stable. If there were a multiple users group, I would be willing to trade knob position data, because they seem pretty arbitrary. I can say I have both bias and starve at 3 o clock. But are these the same Bias and Starve I've known before? Who knows?

I have a Mastotron on my board always. It feeds my filters nicely. Then I float between flavors a bit. I am currently enjoying the Sushi Box Tarantula Fuzz. I have it sounding close to a rat. And I enjoy the tube warmth from it.

Yeah I had a look at the Emerald Ox website and it seems he has a penchant for the slightly out of control. I've had one or two Devi Ever fuzzes and they were a bit too unruly for me. I can't tell if the Grit Spitter offers something significantly different from other voltage starved fuzzes like the Pixel, Oxide, Mastotron, Brown Dog etc

I love that one but I wanted more even-ness? Sustain? Stability? So I cloned it and tweaked until I was happy, just resistors and caps but it’s right up my alley…

Apparently, Grit Spitter can be tame to normal and everything in between. I have high hopes.

Apparently, Ruiner is 2 Dark Boost circuits, DBx2. Last Fall I got the newly resurrected Devi Ever Dark Boost and it's a nice lofi buzz like the pierced speaker in the old RCA TV... Grit Spitter could benefit from a clean blend, I'm not using them these days, the Ruiner was contained somewhat in one. It (GS) makes a Very tight sound, Mastrotron is polite and under control, full frequency (lows) with a similar synthy density.

Human Gear Animato has been on my board for a couple years or more. I use a Boss LS-2 to blend in some clean signal. Otherwise it's a bit hard to tame, but with a clean blend, I can still get a fat bottom with that ratty top.

I just use classic EHX Deluxe Bass big muff .

You have almost 3 pedals in one .

Regular bass muff with clean blend , crossover side and noise gate you can use as ng, just to kill unwanted sustain or make something like gated fuzz
