    2013 Ampeg V-4B 100W Reissue Pt2

Happy to add the 212 AV to the family. Played a gig last night on the 410HLF with the a new group and it was a bit boomy for their sound. After an afternoon w the 212 I am very pleased w the tone. A very full and articulate sound. As stated throughout the thread, it pairs very well with the V4B.

    Official Ampeg Portaflex Club

After spending some time with my new SB-12 and reading several threads on TB, I am starting to question whether I should replace the original Jensen speaker? I LOVE the tone of the amp, I just would like to get a bit louder without the speaker breaking up, specifically on the low end. I have...

    Official Ampeg Portaflex Club

Proud new owner of a 1965/66 SB-12 Portaflex. Had my eyes on a PF-50T and this popped up localy for a screaming deal. Couldn't resist.

    Fender Rumble Club

I picked up a Rumble 100 V3 a few weeks back and have done a couple rehearsals and a small bar gig with it (low volume but w a drummer). I was pleased with the tone and performance, especially considering the weight! BUT, I couldn't help but feel like I should upgrade (still within my 30 day...

Learning an instrument to get better at bass?

Highly recommend learning Piano. The linear progression of notes, and ability to isolate 1 octave and really see the spatial relationships helped me immensely w my bass playing and music theory. I'd argue it's the best instrument to start with. (I started on guitar, then bass, and then piano...

Flatwound strings...to funk, bludgeon, rock etc...

You can't go wrong with La Bellas. I have the 760FS (.105 gauge) on a P with a Jazz neck and the 760FM (.109 gauge) on an American Standard P and love both. I have Rhotosound flats on a Corvette Standard and like them but they are a bit more round sounding. All the strings mentioned above are...

Help with my technique and practice habits please.

I have found practices with Apogee Jam to be very productive. If you're unfamiliar, this is a device that lets you hook up your bass/guitar to your Ipad/Iphone. I use the JamUp app. Within this app you can purchase amps (I use the B15) and pedals. It allows you to play live to songs on your...

About to get the boot. Got 4 months to improve. What would you do?

Lots of good advice here. Identifying shortcomings and communicating with your band on what they would like you to improve on is step 1. Beyond that, I have found great success practicing with my Ipad using the Apogee Jam and Jam up app. This will allow you to play to backing songs, use a...

    SVT3Pro Bias Setting

Huge thanks to Jerrold Tiers for all his insight on this thread! It has been a long few days chasing down this bias issue and without the help of this thread I'd still be playing what sounded like an overdriven electric Guitar. After exhaustive research I determined that my bias needed to be...

Dumbest thing I've ever been told at a gig. Ever.

"Before we pay you, you have to move all those tables and chairs back in the room and set them up" (At 2:30 in the morning, after playing a 3.5 hour show and hauling in/out a hammond organ and leslie)

    DR "Legend" Flats

I know this is an old post, but there seems to be a lack of info on the DR Flats. I put some DR Flats on my Warwick Corvette Std. They are pretty high tension... higher tension than Rotosound 77s which I had on prior to these. As mentioned in other posts, they are very...
