trebbihm had the answer spot on. Two screws were missing out of the four, and another was loose, that screw into the posts that hold the circuit board of the crossover to the entire back plate. Found some screws that would fit and tightened it up and all was good again.

I have one more question. These new versions are 100 watts. The cab says it's 500 watts. Are the original speakers a little higher wattage, or are they 100 watts also and ampeg had fibbed the rating a little bit?

Cool. Maybe I can locate a gk 212 for a decent price for my friend, but if I like it better, then sell him the 410. You guys make me want to try a 212 with my fusion 550 this time around. Like I mentioned before, I used the 212 with an MB500. I like the fusion550 head A LOT better than the mb500.

You guys are thinking logically. Yes, selling off the 410 would eventually lead to having to go shopping. These posts are making me lean back towards just finding him something else.

I hear you. This is my dilemma. I'll help him out, but in the end it is going to cost me money when I need a cab again. So I was considering the merits of changing to 12's to 'justify' the additional costs. But no, I'm not made of money so any new purchase will be felt.

Maybe lets back up a minute and get opinions that with Gk cabs: 410 sounds fuller/larger than one 2x12 cab two 2x12 or a 4x12 single cab will sound fuller/larger than the 410 All running the same head, a GK fusion 550.

You are correct, but a few of the GK guys on here keep mentioning this setup even though the power does not match up. Maybe they will chime in about this.
