I'd recommend looking second hand - if you're going to be playing a bit with a drummer you'll want decent volume and you probably aren't going to get that much in the way of volume for that price new. Worth going to a shop to try a few out and get a feel for what different types of amp offer...

Brand isn't so important, sound and price are. How cheap is cheap? How will you be using the amp mostly, practice at home?

I just picked up an MB115. Haven't had much time to experiment with it but it coped nicely with the different tones I wanted to get from it and made my B string sound quite nice provided I didn't crank the bass knob too much, when it got rather flabby. The tweeter isn't great but I'm happy...

I have a nice little Peavey practice amp that has served me well, though that's my only experience with them tbh. Their high-gain amps are highly thought of in the (metal) guitar world, certainly, the 5150 being a particular classic...

You don't sound over-enthusiastic..! Hope it works out nicely and the gigs go well. I looked briefly for Genz Benz amps in the UK but they seem to be a lot more expensive over here than in the US, and hard to find second hand :hmm:
