One simple thing to try is putting some Deoxit on the tip contact point of the jack and plug the cable in a few times. Could just be a very thin layer of oxidation on the jack.

Good luck dude! A little bit of white grease from the auto supply store is helpful to put inside the threads of the new nut fyi. I think its called lithium grease. Should prevent this from ever happening again!
