    good Wah Pedal

I'm on the fence with the 105-Q after reading this TB thread. Have you had any trouble with the buffered bypass on this one? I'm not a true-bypass devotee by any stretch, but I had to sell a Dimebag wah a few months back because the bypass signal was so different than my original sound. I'd...

Recommendations on a good Pod with a small budget?

Cool - the POD is good for that. I'd hop on craigslist and pick up a used guitar 2.0 or bass POD. You should be able to get one for under $100 if you time it right (like right after Christmas, say...)

Recommendations on a good Pod with a small budget?

There's a lot of opinions on PODs and multi-effects around here, but I'll give you my personal experience: PODs are great for studio scratch tracks and home playing and demoing. We recorded our last record live using a guitar and bass POD to do scratch tracks which were reamped through real...

    School me on ProCo Rats

Mine is the boxy version - I think I read somewhere that they stopped using the LM308 in the late 90s, but I can't confirm that for you.

So I took the plunge today...

HEYO. Is there a whole stompboxes vs. multieffects thread on here somewhere? I've never taken the time to look, and frankly, talkbass posters seem too nice to wage war on each other. Great cab, btw - I remember trying one out in GC back in '00 or therabouts. I couldn't believe it was...

Do ya wear it high, or sling it low...?

For me it's all about the right arm extension while picking. I feel like I have little t-rex arms if it's up too high. There's probably quite a bit about my form that's "wrong," but when I'm playing live I have to really dig in to the bass to feel right. Two of my favorite players, Joe...

haven't drank the emulator koolaid yet

Agreed, but the marketing term "tube emulation circuitry" can fool a lot of people. When I hear emulator, I think POD or amps at GC with little LCD screens and tiny buttons. A good pre is a good pre - tube or solid state, rackmount or pedal.

Do ya wear it high, or sling it low...?

As far as I'm concerned, if you're in a rock or metal band and you're not covering your junk, you're doing it wrong. Link Removed *obviously whatever works for you. But any higher than belt-buckle and I feel like a jazz or reggae guy. Link Removed

haven't drank the emulator koolaid yet

I was a diehard Bass > Cord > Amp guy until I found the Sansamp BDDI (7-8 years ago, now.) I was already running a Mesa Bass 400+ into Bag End cabs, but the sans was the great equalizer at every crappy venue we played. I could put my cabs wherever I wanted, and every soundguy was psyched that...

Does anyone have any clips of their Mesa 400+?

Check: Link Removed best songs for bass tone: Anathema & Beneath the Fold passive EQ (bass, mid, treb): 5, 8, 2, active EQ: slight bumps at 250 & 1500 There's a Sansamp BDDI in line, too, for a bit of crunch (and more mids scoop :( ) I'm playing a P bass running into an Ampeg 410...

Sansamp BDDI - tone shaping when not active

Rob, I've had a BDDI for 7 years, and I just NOW found out that while the Sansamp's tone-shaping circuit is disengaged when the blend knob is at zero, the EQ is still active. Considering the BDDI is designed with a heavy mid-scoop, you have to turn both bass and treble down to about 9-10:00...

    School me on ProCo Rats

I've been using a RAT2 for the past year or so, and I love it. My newest setting is all three knobs at 3:00ish, and I don't have much noticeable low-end loss at all. One thing to note is that mine is from the early 90s - NEW Rat2s are more cheaply made and don't have the coveted Texas...

The Custom/Boutique Pedal Wait and Support Thread

I ordered mine on 9/22, and it was supposed to ship on 10/14. It finally arrived this past week 11/7. I emailed Mark, who told me had some delays with this first run of screenprinting, so the delays shouldn't be so bad on the rest of this batch. He was pretty good about responding to email...

    swollen pickle OMG!

Agreed. I've only had mine for 3 days now, but I can't believe I lived so long without it. This weekend's gig will put it to the test, but the depth knob and USABLE tone knob (?!) put it head and shoulders above my sovtek Muff.

Practice Until You Cannot Get It Wrong

Best piece of advice I got: You can't play it right at a gig until you can play it at home ten times in a row without a mistake.
