Can you drill slightly larger holes in the mounting plate and just tweak the plate in tightening?

I know you said blocks AND binding but you could get inlay stickers from Jockomo. You can get them on Amazon. They're easy to apply and around $10.

I love Ibanez short scale TMB30 necks. They are 41mm or 1.61" at the nut. The difference between my Fender Player Mustang short scale at 1.5" at the nut to the TMB30 neck seems like a mile. It could be the TMB30 is fatter at the nut and not just the width. Very comfortable neck to me, anyway.
