    Say "Hey" If You're A J. R. R. Tolkien Fan

Hey for sure! Read em a few times in the 70s when I was a teen - watched the movies a buncha times since, and then re-read them 2 years ago. I highly recommend reading the books if you haven't already.

P-Bass love - is it more of a boomer thing?

I love the P sound but never loved the feel of the bass. I have a Peavey T-45 that isn't a P but has an amazing neck and a deep thumpy sound that fills that zone for me. My MM Sabre can also do a great P tone when I dial in the neck pickup just so...

80s Albums Many of Us Have Never Heard But Are Worth Checking Out

This is a killer album! I'm glad you brought it up b/c I haven't actually listened to it since I bought it in 1988! Now i'm gonna see if it's on Spotify. These guys were super tight -brothers I think...

Do you find that the volume output on your T-45 is much lower when you dial the pickup selector towards the treble end? I don't know if that's normal or whether I need to get something adjusted. I'm obviously not much of a tech guy :)

Great bass! I have an 83 that I absolutely love. A very unique, great sounding, easy playing bass. I tend to stay in the 7-8 range of the middle knob - that's the sweet spot for me tone-wise. Hope you love it too.

Oh yeah - and the knob does do the single to dual thing. I gotta say that the single coil sounds a lot weaker than the dual - I've got to crank the volume to account for the difference. Perhaps this is something a luthier could fix.

Hate to disappoint but I'm from NYC! The Sabre refers to my other bass - the Musicman Sabre I bought as a callow youth back in 1987. It was my main bass until this T-45 came along. They're so different from one another - the Dynabass kinda bridges them since it's got that active thing going...

That's the T-45 - I believe she's an '83 - love that bass to death! Just picked up a charcoal grey Dynabass that I'm loving as well.

    Smutty's Upright Bass

Anybody see this story in the NY Times today? Invalid Link Removed I'm completely out of my range of ability or available time, but wondering if any fellow TBers would want to start some sort of kickstarter campaign for this fellow musician who got ripped off over 40 years ago and now just wants...

    Peavey T-40 price jumping

I skipped the T-40 and got myself a T-45, largely b/c I wanted a 1 PUP base (my main bass is a MM Sabre) and I liked the look. It's got fewer options tone-wise than the T-40 but is a beautiful instrument for the money (mine was under $500). I do own a T-60 guitar which I absolutely love -...

    Who fell into bass?

I picked up my first bass at 20 after having played the violin for a number of years before that. Never played guitar until my 40s (and I'm still not great at it). Once I got my hands on a bass - somebody in my dorm had one - it was love at first thump. Interestingly though I'd never really...
