Im talking about the Kaplan strings. I got them about 6 months ago and I'm disappointed that the G died so soon. I know they sell a heavy gauge of that string, but I'm also open to other options, such as the Flexocor Deluxe. I'm mostly a classical player.

Like the title suggests, what are the advantages of a heavier gauge string? Particularly replacing a medium gauge g string with a heavy gauge, same brand. If I did this, will it be noticeably harder to bow (german)? Will it be just louder? Or have an increased dynamic range?

like the title says, besides the purpose of aesthetics, is extra wood on the bridge necessary? for example, the 'wings' on either side. And sometimes the legs have a point on the outside. theory would be cutting these off would make the vibrating energy focus more into the bass than the 'wings'...

just recently started using a guitar foot stool for my left foot as per my professor's advice. It holds the my sturdier somehow and i feel like it is instantly easier to press down on the strings without much thumb as before. So I've noticed my endpin has started squeaking loudly whenever i turn the bass slightly while im playing. Even when I tighten it up, it comes undone. Does anyone know a quick fix for this? either a washer or WD-40? haha

thinkin of how to store a bass by hanging (or at least resting) on a wall hook instead of using a bass stand or bass box. kinda like those violin hangers. Any ideas on what kind of hangers or hooks to look for??

I'm 5'8'' and my stool-chair is about 25 inches high and after sitting low for about a year, all my back pain/shoulder pain has left. There's something about having one leg up on the rungs and one on the floor when you're sitting on a higher chair that you can feel your whole pelvis at an angle...
