the position markers? They're sakura leaves on the Sakurai models. Also, they have only 4 neck bolts instead of the usual 6 for some reason. Here's ishibashi reverb listing from two years prior that has some good pictures...

TRB5P / TRB5PII have the ebony board, and fancier wood combos but are thru-neck. the TRB5/TRB5 are more similar construction-wise but have rosewood fretboards. The JP/JP2 are the only bolt on ones with ebony outside of custom made ones, or the TRB Sakurai model (which is also a 6 string)

Why is the Boss tuner among the top tuners?

I think that used to be the case for some reason about 10-15 years ago but not anymore. I didn't get why it was so popular because there were better options available (PolyTune, some of the Korgs) at the time. I bought a TC PolyTune 2 about 12 years ago and its still the best tuner i've used...

Just snagged this so i guess i can legitimately post here now: Wanted to snag one before the tariffs and all that happened and drove the whole market up or whatever else might happen. Really enjoying it so far, and the tiny frets and round radius didn't bother me like i thought they would.

gotcha -- those are the same as the NG/Combustions? I know the radiuses on them arent the same as the CA made ones. Wondering if its possible to get like... 18.5mm spacing on these with the payson bridge.

random question i cant find an answer to: I'm trying to figure out the neck width of the combustions at the 24th fret. My #1 has been a Yamaha TRB6 for like a decade, and i think the Combustion/NGs are almost as wide at the neck but cant find a clear answer on any of the places that have...

was looking at their website recently, and it looks like theyre revamping the beta line? You can no longer customer order M285s or Beta models on the custom form either. Wonder what they're planning on

I havent experienced this with the hyperactive pickups I've got in mine. Rather than using a radius gauge, mayhaps try setting the action based on individual string height at the 12th fret? maybe using a radius gauge is creating a situation where the middle strings are artificially further...

Also, ive been curious about putting a ramp in that position on one of my basses. If you haven't tossed it yet, i'd consider buying it from you

thats a perfect ramp setup/position for doing double thumb stuff, but wow the screws are tacky like that. wonder why someone would go thru the effort of making a nice looking ramp and then just bolting it down with what look like a couple of cabinet screws. Nice find though!

Thats good to know! I actually really like it with the EQ flat and the bright switch engaged. My choice for replacing the pre is actually a jtex distiller (alembic style filter preamp), and that has a q switch that gives you an adjustable high end bump, so i think i could get in the same...

sent an email to status to see about this but maybe some of yall know: Consider my previous post, how much of the sound of this bass is the pre vs. the pickups? Is it a situation where the sound is significantly colored by the preamp? or is it a situation where the bass would sound relatively...

    DR Heartfield bass

Those Z6s were korean made right? the Heartfield stuff was all MIJ to my knowledge. Those Z6s look much more similar to the Ibanez SR1206s from the 90s (not the indo premium models but the original ones): SR1206 (1994–1996)

update to the above, got the bass back today, post plek. Loving it so far! The only thing thats a bit of a bother is that blend knob location, cause it gets 100% in the way for my double thumb stuff since apparently im the only one who slaps over the neck pickup instead of the end of the...
