I'm constructing new pickup covers for a bass with lindy fralin Jazz style pickups. I'm quite new to this and one of my concerns was how thick the top of the cover should be for the pickup to still pickup the vibrations of the strings. FYI: I'm constructing the non-exposed pole piece type...

Anyone notice that some of these guys play 4 string basses but probably tune their bass BEAD or a variation of that? What tunings do you guys find really useful for material such as this?

I used a clear piece of packaging tape. Probably not the best solution but I didn't care.
