Stoner/Doom Bassists Thread, Part 90: Maxed Out

And well, Tim Curry is gone now, too. One bright spot in this week is an EP released by Melvins offshoot Gatta Morta - Burn Witch Burn: Pinkus is on the bass, and does a great job.

Pretty dang good. I'll be looking for one next time I'm at the record store.

Totally! I listened to a couple of live versions of that last night. One of the few covers out there that I think are better than the original. Their covers of Cooper's "Second Coming" and "The Ballad of Dwight Fry" are both excellent, as well. The closer "With Teeth" is pretty awesome in its...

I agree with all of JFlo's recommendations, I'd just add Lysol to them as a "must listen". Though, that's probably just like, my opinion man. Partly because it was the first of theirs I heard, and partly because the copy I heard was the possession of the lady who'd eventually become my wife. Her...

DO EET! In fact, WHY AREN'T YOU LISTENING TO THEM *NOW*?!?! Sorry for all the enthusiasm, they're almost certainly my favorite band that still records and tours. But yeah, they have more studio albums released than the Rolling Stones at this point, and they have some albums that veer in to...

I would like to take this moment to mention that this month is the 30th anniversary for the release of Melvins' Stag. It's an odd album, as all Melvins records should rightfully be. It's possibly the weirdest album released by a major label in the '90s. I totally wore out the tape I dubbed off...

Heheh, I am absolutely sure where my fascination stems from. Gershon Kingsley's original "Popcorn". I did so many odd PE exercises to that song when I was young, I doubt I could have turned out differently. I still think my memory of it coming out of the mono 6x9 built into the phonograph rolled...

Well, it is where the Tonight Show with Johnny Carson was shot. So, you're not wrong. 🤡 When I was a kid, I would wake up every night, wander into the living room and watch his monologue, then fall asleep while he interviewed the first guest. To be honest, I still am not really sure why...

When I remember to bring them, I use a thumb pick. I used to use them because my thumb had become quite arthritic (dislocated it when I was a teen), and I'd tend to drop the pick about 45 minutes into the set. Through continued playing, I got to where that wasn't a problem anymore. I still use...

I dunno, I'm kind of interested in one because I love the bitcrusher in my Digitakt. You're right, it's a dead simple set up. If I find out I'm still going to be employed in the next couple of weeks, I'll probably grab one. Had the first show of my stonerish band in a long time this last...

Hehe, I like how he thinks, and I'd love to hear the results. But I so doubt it would sound like a bass into a Super-Fuzz (or any of its many clones).

Heheh, not yet. I got an email confirming my address at the beginning of April, but haven't gotten any notifications of it being shipped yet. However, I did also order the noisebox and he did say those would be finished after the pedals. He's combined shipments to me before, so he may be...

In my case, just normal homeowner's insurance. Why? Do you know something I don't?

Nope, I *need* to do this, though. If nothing else, I need to do it for insurance purposes. I have at least 25+ guitars and basses, 10+ amps, and at least a hundred pedals. I have absolutely no idea what I am looking at a picture of. Sausage balls? Meatballs? Some weird version of doughnut holes?

I've got the B9. It's kinda cool, but I've never used it in any of my bands. It's tracking's not awesome below C in standard tuning.
