Is there a Yamaha BB club? There is now!

Hey y'all! I've been really looking in to getting one of the newer BBP series basses sometime soon, but here in the US it seems like only the sunburst, and the "so dark it's basically black" blue are available here... I see the vintage white, and blueburst ones all over in videos, and I'm...

My Nordstrand Big Splits aren't hum cancelling...

When I think of grounding hum I don't think of a hum related to the pickup balance. These pickups do just sound like the 60 cycle hum of a single coil, and it goes away when both pickups are on in full.

My Nordstrand Big Splits aren't hum cancelling...

That was genuinely my best guess as to what the issue was, but I'd never heard it mentioned before so I figured my brain was just making poopie up and finding excuses. The hum is definitely noticeable, but I'd bet if I did a side by side with true single coils, you're probably right about it being...

My Nordstrand Big Splits aren't hum cancelling...

Howdy fellow bassists! So as the title suggests I have some Nordstrand Big-Splits that don't hum cancel. I recently bought a used Ibanez EHB1505MS, in part because it came with upgraded Nordstrand pickups over the base 1005 model's Bartolini's, but was really disappointed as soon as I heard...

    Cleaning saddle height adjustment inserts

Agreed completely, and the unmounting has already been done. Any suggestions of how to clean? That's what I'm really not sure about. The inserts are so small, so i'm not really sure what to even stick in there.

    Cleaning saddle height adjustment inserts

I built a p-bass from selected parts a while back, and after assembly the initial setup went perfectly. Not long ago it came time to finally change the strings, and after putting them on noticed I'd have to adjust the saddle height a bit. Obviously not a big deal at all... except that most of...

    Corrosion issues

I am definitely aware that this is a huge issue for lots of people, and I am consistently careful to wash my hands before playing my instruments as well usually as wiping them down afterwards(especially my nicer instruments... Ray included). But I do this mostly for string life, and as I said in...

    Corrosion issues

This is definitely something worth looking in to for sure. It hasn't done this before, but it's getting up there in age now. Is this something that will just pass, or something I'll just have to deal with, and make sure I use it and clean it more often?

    Corrosion issues

The bass has been deeply cleaned both for the first instance of corrosion earlier this year, and again the other night. It's currently being left out of the case. If it's the pickguard, that's an easy and cheapish thing to replace.. but I'm not keen on getting rid of the case if I don't have...

    Corrosion issues

Thanks for the info folks, I won't resort to sanding again. J Wilson and subdude, I'll give some of your suggestions a try for safer cleaning as well! As for how it got this way to begin with, I do live in a very varied climate: Wisconsin. With cold dry winters through hot humid summers, and...

    Corrosion issues

Hello all! I am looking for some advice on how to deal with corrosion, both in the cleaning and prevention of. I have several basses, and tend to play each one in spurts of a month or two before getting the urge to play a different one. One of my basses, a Stingray that I've posted my troubles...

Side effects from a very straight neck?

There's a lot of useful detailed setup info here for how you like to play, and I can definitely appreciate that. And I also definitely agree that factory specs aren't everything, but they do get you a good starting point and comfortable position to fine tune from. I've just never had to stray so...
