One other thing about the Roth: It is considerably heavier than a carved or plywood bass, if that matters to you.

I had one given to me, and took it out to sea a few times. Decent for practice, but I couldn't get a clear tone or much volume out of it (though I didn't try a set-up or even changing strings). Ended up giving it away.

I have not found olivs or Eudoxas to have tuning issues, once they're stretched out. Doesn't mean I'm always in tune, but that's on me!

I just put an Oliv G back on today. I've been using Eudoxa ADG with Spiro weich long E/C. Loved them all except the G was just too twangy up around D & E. I've used Brobst, Gailes, and Bob's house of basses. All were good. IIRC, Gailes added the highest premium for bass bows

Having poor eyesight myself, I much prefer 1 to a stand, and have been granted that in all groups I've played in. In my current orchestra (semi-pro), the bassists are 1/stand, all using ipads and individual page turn pedals. In other string sections, it's 2/stand, some paper, some tablets...

OP: It isn't clear -- are you using the same bow on both basses? My son is playing cello in middle school, and uses a different instrument, but the same bow for each. Also, if you can take pics of the pegbox and afterlength of the strings on both basses, the brain trust here can identify them...
