    Ampeg SGT-DI

I have been using a VT Bass Deluxe for many years. Recently had it in the shop twice but Tech 21 says it's all back in order. The controls seem to work fine but I'm getting some noise, especially with dirtier settings. Thinking about getting the SGT-DI. Anyone had noise issues with that pedal? I...

Micro amp for punchy bass sound with a pick

Since we still can't walk into music stores and try out amps, I decided to order both the Orange Little Bass Thing and the Aguilar Tone Hammer 500 and compare them with the Ampeg PF-350. Plugging them all into Ampeg SVT-210AV and Avatar SB-112 cabinets. Playing with a pick. Got the Orange...

Micro amp for punchy bass sound with a pick

After researching this for a few days and considering the responses here, I am very interested in trying out the Aguilar Tone Hammer 500. One of my favorite bands, Protomartyr, uses a Terror Bass and I think it sounds great but might be little darker and dirtier than what I am going for. It's...

Micro amp for punchy bass sound with a pick

Funny you'd mention that. I have a pair of the 210AV's. They're pretty great for decent sound and portability, in my opinion. The PF-350 and PF-500 sound great through them; I'm just interested in possibly exploring other options.

Micro amp for punchy bass sound with a pick

I don't need to hurry because the coronavirus has halted all gigs as well as band practices for me for the time being, but I am generally in the market for a new micro head in the 300-500 watt range. I play with a pick and prefer a sound that is on the brighter side with mids that can cut...

Ampeg PF-500 - Problem Free Roll Call

OK, here we are years later, and I've still got the PF-500, and now I have the cutout problem. I hit a loud slap note recently, which I don't normally do, and the thing just died. A day or two later it seemed like it was back to normal, but tonight, after about two weeks have passed, it cut...

    SOLD GK MB200

I have a GK MB200 head that I am looking to trade. It's in excellent condition and comes with a carrying bag. I bought it as a backup amp a few years ago and have rarely used it. My go-to amp is an Ampeg PF-500 and I am interested in trading the GK head for another PF-500 or a PF-350. I...

    Fender Cabinet Deal

Same here. I use an Avatar 12" and a light Ampeg 210. Takes two trips from the car but it's very workable.

    Fender Cabinet Deal

FYI, Musicians Friend stupid deal of the day today includes a Fender 810 cabinet for $499. If only I were in the market for an 8 x 10. :(

    Ampeg SVT Pro 3 Question(s)

How does the 3 PRO compare to the PF-500? Anyone have an opinion on that? I have the PF-500 and I'm happy with it but I've been curious about the 3 PRO.

    '50s Precision reissue options

Trying to sell my Godin Shifter; in the market for a '50s style Precision. I am torn between getting a relatively new one at a discount or something like a 1990's model and I am torn because I don't mind older instruments with some "road wear" but I am wondering about whether I can be confident...

Advice for a basic rock bass amp setup

After playing bass for a few years in rock bands, I have come up with some simple advice for those interested in a basic bass amp setup for a rock band. First of all, you need to have enough volume to match the drummer, either without a PA or for stage volume. If your drummer drums like a rock...

Need New Amp, Ampeg SVT-CL Or Will V4B Be Enough?

New reissue, yes. It was b-stock or a return from Guitar Center, but all the tubes appeared to be working. The tone was fine but it just didn't have enough headroom. I was using just a 112 and a 210 with it, which could have been a factor, but still, the PF-500 is much louder with those cabs.

Need New Amp, Ampeg SVT-CL Or Will V4B Be Enough?

I have a PF-500. I bought a V-4B but returned it because it was not loud enough w/o breakup. I was playing with a classic rock cover band with a small outdoor gig. The PF-500 is significantly louder than the V-4B and the tone is almost as good -- just my 2 cents.

Bass player needed for Sept. 13 Wisconsin Dells gig

It will pay a little, I think, but not enough to pay for an airline ticket. :(
