Ampeg SGT-DI

I had ran the SCR-DI for quite a while until I got a HeadRush pedalboard. Recently I got a Jackson Spectra Pro VI and wanted something that could fit in the bass case but still have versatile and incredible tone. Searched around for a bit and chose the SGT-DI. This thing is light years beyond the SCR-DI. Truly an Ampeg rig in a box with a few very nice bonuses. Absolutely love it.
I like & use both but the SGT-DI certainly has more useable tonal options than the SCR-DI. The SCR-DI has one setting that sounds great on every bass. The SGT-DI, w/ sweepable mids, 2 SGT circuit options, & cab sims [although I don't use them often] not only allows for dialing in the perfect live tone it also provides many great tone variations that really shine in the studio.

I scored a sgt di from guitar center used for 200 $ !! at least i thought i did and after a few days of not recieving a tracking # i called them to see what the haps was.; they told me the pedal wasnt functioning on one side wich wasnt stated on the website btw , so i guess they made one phone call to me from an out of state #(wich i didnt answer , but an email or text might of worked a tad better) to tell me it wasnt working up to code(wich was not lister on the used gear page) the day after i called them to see what was going on, now realize we have had no commincation as of yet about the situation
) they deciced to just cancel my order with out speaking to me about it, so when i saw it was canceled via email(kinda ironic) with out talking to me or explaining in an email at least . I raised holly hell and was able to get a brand new one at the cost of the used one, so in the end they made it right wich was suprising but this was 4th time something like this has happend wether they sold a pedal after me allready buying it or they have the pedal still and just havnt sent it after aweek! but i am stoked i got it, and i can say this pedal is just amazing,i have the broughton sv pre,the master effects super 300 and a bassdriver di v2 throw and ebs multicomomp in the mix and jesus all these pedals play so well together.definitly recomend a 3 amp setup and run them each to a diffrent amp, and what one doesnt do thee other will ,or ad an eq or a booster trickled in there ,you just have so many ulimited possiblities,,it just incredible. i have an morely abc switch ..the ebs comp is plugged right before the input of the morley so all channells are gettin the compression , channel A goes to the sgt di then to a cheap rowin 5 band eq then to an old ba115 combo(mid freq on 2).. then channel B goes to a demon fx micro tube x to a master effects super 300 then to a sansamp bbdi v2 then to a rocket bass 112, now channel C feeds into a broughton svpre then to a demon fx harmonic booster, then a boss limit enhancer(heavily modified by built by ryan) then to a broughton always on hpf then to an swr sm500 feeding an swr megoliath jr 3 2X10 then a ampeg svt 15e ran in bridge mono. i mean its like every tone know to man is there ..just depending on the bass i suppose...but im just loving that sgt it totally completes .what i hear in my head then some!!!! any questions lemeknow cheers!

I have been using a VT Bass Deluxe for many years. Recently had it in the shop twice but Tech 21 says it's all back in order. The controls seem to work fine but I'm getting some noise, especially with dirtier settings. Thinking about getting the SGT-DI. Anyone had noise issues with that pedal? I play mostly clean with maybe just a little SVT-style grit.

My typical rig consists of a PF-500 with one or two SVT-210AV's, or one of those paired with an Avatar 1 x 12. I think the Thunder P sound in this video sounds great:

My sgt-di is pretty quiet by itself but with some basses and with the bright switch on I can get some hiss or if I really crank the gain, but I generally use lower gain settings.

Certainly nothing out of the ordinary and better than many.

I haven’t got the SGT DI but I have a V7 and a VT Deluxe and at certain settings, you can get noise with either, especially if you push treble or higher midrange. And dirt is just noisier the more you add. That’s how it goes…boosting frequencies boosts their noise floor.

I go on the road for work many weekends, and the battery power option for the SCR-DI makes it perfect to throw into a gig bag to have a practice rig the size of a large index card. SGT-DI lives on a small PT board for everything else!
That's the reason I bought the SCR-DI 10 years ago. I now also use it if I go jamming with friends because I can get 3-4 good sounds in seconds with my active bass.

I use an SGT-DI in the studio & live. It's very quiet and delivers that Ampeg thunder. The sweepable mids allow you to dial in the right amount of punch and the SGT has a natural OD tone w/ no loss on the low end. I switch between the B15 & SVT, depending on the song and/ or room.

I used one in an ampless live setting running to IEM’s and FOH and it worked great! No noise issues, able to get a great clean tone.

after selling my SGT-DI, i broke down and bought another one to replace it and i do like it a lot, so i'm probably going to keep this second one.
Hey John, I might just snag one soon, too. I’m loving the implementation of the SGT in the V7. But having that old VT Deluxe is like an old shoe at this point for me.
