Here's my old 2001 SR3000 Prestige. Mahogany body, Ibanez pups and preamp, 5-piece wenge/bubinga neck, D-tuner on E, nice tuning machines. Beauty in simplicity. Nothing fancy, but she still looks, plays and sounds great after all these years.
There is, somewhere here on TB, a thread by, IIRC, "WorshipBass" where he sanded down his SR500 to bare wood and restained it and sealed it. It came out looking great, a beautiful color with all kinds of shine to it. But it took him a long time and a lot of work to do this to his SR500. Is it...
My SR3000 has a few dings and scratches that I "touched up" using a Rust-oleum Stain marker. It worked fairly well because 1) the dings/scratches are surface only and 2) my SR3000 truly seems to be a stain only over solid mahogany. Truly a thing of beauty. Being about 17 years old, it is going...
I know that Fender specs their pickup heights as part of their setup guide on their website. But they only seem to offer specs for the bass side and the treble side. Do these specs also apply to a PJ setup? Would the neck pickup and the bridge pickup be set the same?
Well, that dark brown burst is sure pretty. Ain't nuthin' wrong with that! I wouldn't mind a 4-string in that color (if I could find one at a decent price). My old AGB140 was made in China. Interestingly (at least to me), my new AGB200 is made in Indonesia. No matter. Ibanez are doing these...
I love the looks of the Talman basses, Outtaseezun, but 1) it seems to be designed for rock (which my SR650 covers very well) and 2) this particular one is so freaking heavy. My SR650 is only about 7 pounds. But I guess it is the nature of the slab TMBs to be heavy basses. Besides, I really...
I saw that color, Outtaseezun. Pretty. Striking. But maybe a little too progressive for this old man. Ha ha! I had a deep brown single pickup AGB140 for a few years. It was a nice bass. But I wanted the 2 pickups and a shorter scale. The AGB140 is a full 34". There is an older AGB200 from the...
Well, the weight scared me off and I canceled the order. 10 pounds, 10 ounces. I just don't need that hanging from my shoulders. I love the looks. I wish Ibby made the short scale (TMB30) in an upscale model like the TMB600 or even the TMB2000. I realize I could mod it to death, but I'm not...
