You probably haven't been around my neck of the woods :hiding: Have you done any volunteer work? If not, you should consider it. It's unpaid and can sometimes be boring depending on where you go, but if you get it under your belt and work hard at it, your job hunt will be a hell of a lot...

I do. Ever since I first played a bass, I have always used my fingers. When I use a pick, I can only play at around half the speed that I can using only my fingers, and I always find myself fumbling and sometimes missing the string completely. Just wondering if anyone else is like me :bassist:

There are a lot of reasons, really. Lack of funds, enjoying the unique sound and "personality" of a cheaper bass, not having to wear kid gloves while handling the instrument, for example. For me, it's a combination of all three. I'm a poor student, an expensive bass is the last thing on my list...

They do, but some people seem to forget this fact when they get their hands on a Sadowsky or a Stingray. I know that my trusty old Ibby couldn't hold a candle to a Sadowsky in most areas, but I love it for what it is. (I'm starting to talk about it like it's my child :D)

I really don't understand why people do this. I saw someone mention in another thread that people judge gear with their eyes and not their ears, and they are totally right. For example, SX. The price means that you can afford to swing them around and batter them a bit without worrying that you...
