Is older heavier gear getting cheap since light weight is the fad?

Little guys playing little basses through little amps. A real bass is a big instrument that deserves to be played through a big amp. When you guys grow up, you'll realize this. I still play a beefed up J bass into an SVT out through an SWR Megoliath. Its the sound that can be heard in the bowels...

Fender Bassman 300 vs. Ampeg SVT-CL

For what it's worth, the SVT CL, which is currently manufactured in Viet Nam, is really nothing to write home about. It's hardly worthy of the SVT badge. There is a late model U.S. made SVT CL that is every bit as good as the early model SVT. I believed Among ceased production of those in 2006...

    Warwick Releases New.... Snack Boards?

Something like this should be a "swag" promo item sent out to folks in the industry and high volume retailers. A buddy of mine was in the vinyl record industry for many years, and he had some of the dumbest promo items, and some of the coolest promo items... and a TON of it. . Whenever I would...

    SOLD Pristine Custom Alembic Élan

Really, $5,000 is not a lot of dough for an instrument of this caliber. I will assume that a majority of players here are like me..four different basses, a couple of amps, a handful of 6 stringers (I like to call them little guitars), other various music related bric-a-brac that rarely gets used...

Black Sabbath-The End...are you going? when and where?

I saw Sabbath in Seattle during the Mob Rules tour. The opening act was The Outlaws..? Whomever put those two bands together on tour must have been new to rock music. If I weren't so disinterested in The Outlaws, I might have felt sorry for them. I'm sure they were good in the early 1970's, but...

    Peavey Century 120

Zombie thread resurrection alert!!! I think everyone should have an old turd like this as their first amp. It will make you appreciate when you can afford an amp that's even remotely close to adequate.I had one of these running through some unmarked cabinet that was older than the head. It was...

    Best Head/Cab/Combo for Hard Rock?

I'm running an SVT Classic head through an SWR Megoliath 810. It's indescribable. It has monster truck grunt.

    Cool? or clunker

At first the logo looked to me like a funny looking letter "G". After closer inspection, I think it might be a snake.

Haha. I'll give him a call. I was trying to keep the suspense going for a little while.

Oh. Yeah, man! I've seen those before. Glen Campbell played something like that. It probably sounds good, huh? Is that one of those push type whammy bars? I saw a Silvertone guitar at a flea market years ago that had an amp built into the case. It was all there including rhe original tools and...

    Cool? or clunker

Yeah. I have no idea. The P/J pickup config makes it theoretically versatile. The body reminds me of Peavey for some reason, or like you said Washburn or something like that. It really is kind of a mish-mash of different things. Hell..it could be just a Heinz 57 somebody slapped together from parts.

    Cool? or clunker

That certainly is an idea. I think it has kind of an '80s Japanese vibe to it. The headstock logo looks like the letter "G". I looked up Guya Tone but that isnt it. I think the over all aesthetics are kind of cool. I know enough that once I get my hands on it I will know right away if I want it...

This thing popped up on my local craigslist for $100 or best offer. Can anyone identify it? Would it be worth even messing with?
