    Building a cab for a Faital 15fh500

Interesting idea. So you mean just using a high pass for the 5" mid? I guess the added impedance of a mid speaker won't matter higher up in the freq register. At which point would you recommend the mid to blend in? I really appreciate your view on this. Thanks

    Building a cab for a Faital 15fh500

Great input, Thanks. I've actually reconsidered and made some new drafts using the 15pr400 in a ~3 cf box. I'm a bit uncertain about the tuning though. I' m considering around 47-48Hz which seems kind of middle ground. What are the pros and cons for tuning lower or a bit higher? From what I...

Cool. I've read the Johnk thread a while ago, but I'll definitely have another look. Thanks!

    Building a cab for a Faital 15fh500

Hi all, I’ve been lurking around here for a good while but this is my first post. I’m intrigued to build a couple of 115 cabs with fairly small form factors to go with my TH500 for a portable yet capable rig. I know and am well aware it won't save me money to diy nor should I expect...

    Roadworn

I understand your frustration. However, to me it's a question why you bought it in the first place. Is it the fact that it's a collectible or is it a keeper to play and love? If it was me, I would play and enjoy and leave it as is. When the day comes and you want to sell it, it might have more...

Duncan SPB-3 Quarter Pound vs. MIM stock P Bass pickups?

I have both, in different basses. They are quite similar. The SPB-1 is perhaps a bit more open sounding and clear. Slightly more lows in the Fender. But that might be the basses they sit in...

    Did Jaco ever slap?

Well, maybe in heaven. Higher Ground was released in 1989, two years after Jaco passed away.

1978 Precision Pots? Don´t think so.

My original 78' pots doesn't look like that. Mine has plastic shafts among some other things. However, I've installed new good quality replacements. I'm saving the old ones in case a future buyer would care. I don't, they're just old worn pots after all.

    Fender P: CS60s must go!

I agree. I had a Dimarzio Will Power before that was way too hot for my liking. Switched to Duncan SPB1 and it made a world of difference. Much more clarity, not as boomy.

    '78 P-bass. Nitro? How?

I have a 78 that used to look exactly like yours. I had a very uggly j route that I filled in with a peice of ash with the intention to partly finish the area with transparent yellow. Well, I didn't work out at all. The finish didn't react at all like nitro which I'm used to. When I tried to...

What is the best approach to learn how to play bass (I play lead guitar) .

Don't think like a guitarist, think like a drummer. To me, the bass is a rhythm instrument as much as a tone machine. Listen to what the drummer is doing and try to enhance his beat. Don't know what type of music you're playing but sometimes leaving notes unplayed can really be good for groove...
