idk men i'd say this is a battle worth fighting. OP thinks that the riff sounds better on the bass. He thinks the rhythm guitarist won't be able to play it and sing well (which is huge). It's early in the relationship from what I understand. This is the best and only time to demand the terms...

i've been guilty about doing this to actors/movie directors. yeah it makes people laugh but could i really say it to their face? it also depends on whether or not someone has a sense of humor. people have poked fun at me and i have had many good laughs on flaws that really are true.
