Barefaced Two10 vs Big Baby 3?

I don’t have any experience with the 2x10, but I’ve been using the BB2 exclusively for several years in country and rock bands. Everyone I’ve played with is amazed at the lows from such a small cab. And it gets punchy when I want it to. Great sound for everything from a slow country ballad to...

    Refreshing an old Carvin

Another LB75F owner. Replaced the pre with an Audere 4 band when the original failed. Sounds great with the original pickups. I would start with a new pre and see how it sounds. I chose 4 band over variable mids, but I think either would work.

“Need” guitar + bass doubleneck. Options?

I was looking at double necks but decided to try something different. Pick, strum, slap - it does it all. Can play all bass, all guitar or both at the same time. And it weighs under 10 pounds. https://stick.com/instruments/ns-stick/

What a rude awakening this is!

My 78 P bass is over 12 lbs on the bathroom scale. I played hundreds of gigs with it in the 80s and 90s. If I use it now for any length of time my left arm starts to go numb.

    Portable Bass Amp

I have an older Roland KC 110 that I love. Works great for bass. It has 3 channels with a mic pre on one. 20W on batteries (8 AA) AND 30W on AC power. Two 5" speakers. We lost power one night and used it for over 3 hours running vocal, guitar and bass. Not loud, but plenty for messing around...

PLEEASE Count Me In - A Rough Outing At Today's Gig (is it me?)

Gigs like that can be a nightmare, or a great time. Just relax, go with the flow, and have fun! As others have suggested, find a place to bring in the bass line that is musical. I will softly play chords in a higher register sometimes. Whatever you do, enjoy the freedom! It can be more fun than...

Neighbor walks into your backyard to talk to other neighbor - Weird? Rude?

I would go out and get to know him, and the neighbor behind, a little better. You might become friends. And it's good to have the neighbors looking out when you're not home. Like when you don't get home from gig until 2 am

    Best micro-combo rig?

I have a small Roland keyboard amp that I use when playing with acoustic players. I think it's the KC-110. If I remember right it's 30W plugged in, but will run for about 4 hours on 8 AA batteries at 20W. I've used the battery power more than I expected. Great for impromptu jams by the fire, or...

GK Fusion Issue - do my tubes need replacing?

My problem was not intermittent, but a hard failure. Sounds like you have something else going on.

GK Fusion Issue - do my tubes need replacing?

FWIW I had the same problem with the original version of this amp. Worked fine for about two years. I found that the middle preamp tube had failed and replaced just that one. The heater glowed fine but it had that smokey look of a blown tube. Went out right before a gig so I swapped it out on...

Do Stainless Steel Roundwound Strings Still Eat Frets?

I use Roto 66 on my 78 P bass exclusively. After about 35 years I finally did a re-fret. It got played and gigged regularly. I do use a light touch. On my fretless I use GHS Pressurewounds and don't have wear issues. There is some, but it doesn't cause problems. My advice: use what gives you...

    Capacitor lifespan

I work with equipment every day that has been in continuous use for 35-40 years that's full of electrolytic capacitors. The failure rate is actually very low.
