Check out Epiphones Classic IV Pro basses! I had one (sold it and now am bassless) and it was great! They discontinued the Alpine White but still sell the sunburst.

I have this running joke with my pals that every time we here some generic picked root note bass line we say "Oh, that's some good P bass playin'" . Not because that all P bass players have that sound of course but because a lot of bass players that pick up a P bass have this quarter note root...

OP, the people that you heard this from were conviently from the LAST thread you posted, asking advice on a P bass. The price range you gave fit very nicely in the Squier/MIM range and were stubbornly insistant on anything less than what you already knew you wanted. Which made me question why...

I would be way too scared to mess with the inside, having absolutely no amp repair expiereance or knowledge!

Cool stuff man, your vocals remind me of Lee Ranaldo! My only suggestion would be to shorten the lyrics a bit so you aren't in a rush to get them all out. For example, instead of your voice blossoms like a darkened rose, try "Your voice blooms as a darken rose." Its less wordy and therefore...

My school has the same bass. Poor thing has been beat up by high school kids for years... The action is so high its unplayable but still sounds amazing! My question is, if it is a Jazz bass why the two P pickups?

When would you need phantom power? I believe I'm hitting the preamp too hard. But to be honest I haven't the slightest.
