    Short Scale with Balls!

Just wanted to mention how amazing a Tech 21 VT Bass preamp/eq is for fattening, or for that matter, shaping tone in general. I have a Mikro and found it to be very thin sounding. I love how it plays but it lacks bottom end and I couldn't get it to sound good with my amp's tone controls. I found...

    Ok! What is it?

It makes no sense where they put the bridge. Even the guy in the video mentions that it is in the way. A lot depends on how the guitar hangs on you as to how far you have to reach. I went down to Alembic and played a Stanley Clarke model one day. It was very neck heavy and I was reaching to play...

    Bass eq

You might be right about that although I also have a normal size jazz bass that I put a short scale neck on and it sounds just a full and round as when it had the 34 scale neck. Overall the string length on the mikro bass is probably still shorter, though I haven't measured it. I am just...

    Bass eq

Has anyone tried to take a cheap bass such as an Ibanez Mikro and make it sound full. I'm thinking if I pump up the lows it will sound like a real bass. It currently has a small, thin sound even with a Bill Lawrence P-46 in it.

For Sale Fender P Bass Special

This is in excellent condition. It plays and sound great. The neck is really nice and I get lower action on this than my American Jazz. I've gotten hooked on short scales and I haven't played it in a year so it's time to let it go. Check the musiciansfriend reviews. I'll ship it for free with...

Fender Modern Player Short Scale Jazz in White Blonde?

I'm definitely interested in hearing your thoughts on the Mikro vs. Modern Player since I'm hooked on short scales now. I have found the Mikro to have a nice growl to it with more brightness too, compared to my Fender American jazz with Fralin pickups. It does have less sustain though as one...

Fender Modern Player Short Scale Jazz in White Blonde?

I got caught up in the whole short scale Telecaster/Modern Player bass thing. I tried to get a white one from mf but found out they were sending me the telecaster....still waiting for a refund. GC in Sacramento supposedly had a red one and they were going to call me back to be sure but never...

    Alembic necks

I went to the Alembic factory yesterday and found out that the Stanley Clarke is definitely the narrowest neck, possibly too narrow for me. The string spacing would take some time to get use to but having said that it plays beautifully. I also played a short scale Essence and a Brown with a...

    Alembic necks

Thanks for all the feedback guys. A friend of mine has mentioned I should go to the Alembic shop here in Santa Rosa. He picked his up at less than half price because it was a special build and there was something the customer didn't like about it. I didn't realize I could go over there. I...

Oops. What I meant to say was.......If it hasn't bowed in 18 years I don't think it is going to.

SOLD Modulus VJ4 with Emg active electronics

I saw a passive one with Barts go for around $1100 in the SF bay area recently. Sadly they should be going for more than this but they are just not as popular as other jazz basses.

SOLD Modulus VJ4 with Emg active electronics

Thanks for the input on pricing the VJ4. As far as the truss rod question all I can say is the neck on this is straight as an arrow. If it has bowed in 18 years I don't think it is going to.
