I think they had to dispense with the skunk stripe on any neck with the graphite rods; since they would need 3 stripes. My guess is that they must use a separate fingerboard even with maple to accommodate the 3 channels. I miss the skunk stripe too but the neck on my 2011 AM DLX feels...
