    G&L Club Part 7

No such model as a JB4, just JB. Fullerton Deluxe is usually (though not always) a mass produced G&L. Unless it's a JB MFD, all have the same alnicos. Get a JB MFD or an optioned BTO (Build to Order) JB. They made less than 100 JB MFD's before going under. Love the MFD's. Mine: Red JB MFD...

Are G&L fretless basses usually.... awesome?

I have six G&L fretless and I'd likely sell it's fretted mate before them although I may move the latest SB1 fretless 1/2" nut as I also have a '92 1/2" nut. Love them all.

    G&L Club Part 7

JB MFD basses were routed 1/4" deeper than alnico JB's. Putting MFD's into a non-MFD JB, there'd be no room for foam or adjustment, so that's a no go. Measured them against my 2009 JB with alnicos.

    G&L Club Part 7

Size, in every direction, sound, and lower output. The SB2 2nd generation bridge pickup is identical to both single coils in the 1st generation, other than minute differences later on from supply chain changes. Those single coils are far lower output than other MFD's, similar to Alnico J output...

    G&L Club Part 7

I concur. I have two fretted/fretless pairs of SB1's, but SB2's, most of them earlier ones, are my fave (several) without the added tone control, which I despise. The SB1's tone control sounds more linear and better than one added to an SB-2. Having two different pickups with very diverse...

Truss rod advice from the sage of necks, Carl Pedigo: Hardly ever adjusted my '56 or '62 P's, US Laklands nor US G&L's more than a tiny turn and I live in the Sonoran Desert, bone dry to insane monsoons. While Carl's short talk deals with a one way rod, most is still pertinent with the...

    G&L Club Part 7

Guitarsbyleo is working for me right now. Latest acquisition, need to get some good pics. 2021 SB1 lined fretless, 1.5" nut, 8.25 lbs. The neck may end up on a different model as I have an unlined fretless '92 SB1, also 1.5" nut. Wish it fit a JB MFD but those are 20, not 21 fret and the body...

    G&L Club Part 7

At some point a number of those Sadowsky nickels had an issue with the winding of the A string. I sent two pair back but it was some time ago.

G&L El Toro owners- question about passive mode

I purchased the fretted El Toro as a loaded body with no neck. Pic is with an SB2 neck I already had. Yours looks like it has a replacement neck too. Having a thumbrest up by the neck allows us to mine another area of the El Toro's sweet spots.

    Show us your G&L

According to former G&L dealer UpFront Guitars, there were less than 100 total JB MFD's made. Glad I was able to pick up a pair. Build sheets both say alder but they sound quite different from one another. The metallic silver sounds deeper and fuller while the Fiesta red sounds tighter and...

    G&L Club Part 7

Two JB MFD's and their belair older sister. Looking to purchase a fretless JB to swap necks into the Metallic Silver one. Even better- you have a fretless JB; suk at fretless as much as me; you're ready to acquiesce and swap necks.

G&L MFD Jazz bass - Pancho Tomaselli signature

Hey Chuck I managed to acquire one of the Fiesta Red Limited Editions like yours. Incredible build and neck in all respects. Have a Silver Metallic too but the Fiesta is a big step up- fit, finish, playing ease feel like Custom Shop. IMO, your Andromeda is the sweetest and baddest looking JB...

    G&L Club Part 7

I put this on Fans of G&L FB group but I've been here far longer: She followed me home, can I keep her? Something even rarer- a G&L swamp ash bass at a hair over 8lbs. Build sheet is 01-17, has the correct serial # but lists a maple fingerboard, I prefer rosewood anyways. Mint condition, OMG...
