G&L Club Part 7

Having spent a few days getting used to a reversed split pickup, I've this to say: it does remove the bump in tone when going from the A string to the D, but it doesn't magically fatten up a thin G string. Spending a while experimenting with pickup heights / pole heights helped enormously, but I still have to be careful where I pluck the G string. Even the choice of finger makes a difference!

Two JB MFD's and their belair older sister.
Looking to purchase a fretless JB to swap necks into the Metallic Silver one.
Even better- you have a fretless JB; suk at fretless as much as me; you're ready to acquiesce and swap necks.

ok, so i gues i'll post this hear to get some recommendations, since there are probably a good deal of you in the position i'm in

my recent L2K weighs 10.75 pounds, whereas my six year old JB has got to be up around 11

how are you people strapping these monsters on for shows?

i'm 6' 4" and around 205

my walker and williams padded 3.5 inch padded distressed leather strap isn't really cutting it like it does for my 94 LB100

so i'm looking at

walker and williams 4"

moody 4"

levy's 4"

Italia 4"

Am I missing something that might do the trick?

I like the Levy's 4" garment leather, padded.

My M-2500 isn't as heavy as your basses, but it's heavy enough that I like a padded strap. I've been happy with the Mono Betty:

A Tribute Kiloton has come up used locally, I am very tempted to get it, but never tried one (I have played Tribute L2000 basses and liked them).
What's a fair price for one these in great condition? New they are $1100AUD here.
It may depend somewhat on what finish that one is but based on more recent (6 mos) sales on Reverb somewhere in the $500-$600 USD range. Those in Irish Ale/Maple and Alpine White/Rosewood may be closer to the top of that range.

As for what you'd be getting it's very solid bass with a 1.5" nut width, 34" scale, and a very mid forward tonality. The single MFD pickup has a strong output and you'll have a switch that permits either series, parallel, or single coil functions for that pickup.
