Which solder spool for guitar repair

I use 63/37 rosin core on all of the guitars, basses, pedals and amps that I work on.

    Auditioning Drummers - E-kits

Which e-kit is critical. We started out with an Alesis Strike, sounded good, but the sensitivity was not there, realized this after playing Kick Start my Heart. We went and bought a Roland VAD716 and it’s been amazing. An estimated 70 shows with it and other drummers in the crowd are amazed by it.

New Years Eve Gigs - Who's Got What

We’ve played every New Year’s Eve since we formed 3 years ago. Already have 20 shows booked for 2026. This year we are playing on the Brazos river in Texas. I’m humbled by that amount of gigs and response we have gotten since combining these two bands. I didn’t expect this level of gigs at 51...

    P bass pj preamp

Aguilar OBP-2 or OBP-3 sounds fantastic with my PJ. It can be wired active/passive and will easily fit in the body cavity.

    Warwick Streamer 1987 Preamp Advice

Aguilar OBP-2 and OBP-3 sounds good in those, so does an EMG BTC. You could also put a HazLab clone in it.

    Dual (2 bass) Gig Bag

I’ve had the Mono Dual for over 10 years and used it on hundreds of gigs, and even use the straps to carry it on my back. No issues, fantastic bag. I haven’t considered replacing it, and would buy another if this one ever broke.

Information on very early SWR Redhead amps wanted.

Definitely a regional trend. I worked for GC for several years in the 90’s and the big sellers at my store was SWR heads and cabs, Ampeg Heads and cabs, Eden and GK was mainly head sales and were not as popular as the SWR and Ampeg.

Information on very early SWR Redhead amps wanted.

I’ve got a 1991 Redhead that I picked up cheap from a pawnshop a few months ago, disassembled, cleaned and sounds great. I made a new front cover for it and I absolutely love it. Aside from the grill, yours looks identical to mine.

Warmoth Neck: Luminlay not optimal (but won’t sent back)

Lumilay dots were a disappointment for me. They only glow for a few minutes and are difficult to see when not glowing. I wound up covering them with dots of white fingernail polish and I can see them perfectly.

NEW Line 6 Helix v2 for 10th anniversary

If you haven't tried it, the Austin Buddy Bass pack is fantastic. I use some as is and some as a start point for my own patches. My son has a POD go and it's great for bass, as is the Helix, but I after the learning curve, I'll stick with Fractal at the same money. Fractal will never be a...

    1991 SWR Pawnshop Score

I bought it as a collector piece. I love SWR amps and picked up two Working man’s 15 combos a few months ago, less than $100 for the pair, they just needed the pots cleaned. It’s will be rare that the SWR’s will ever leave the house. On 98% of my gigs I go ampless with my Fractal FM3, but also...

    1991 SWR Pawnshop Score

I don’t think it’s that heavy. But I rolled it everywhere and only lifted it twice.

    1991 SWR Pawnshop Score

Wednesday night I saw a Facebook marketplace ad for an SWR Redhead for $200 at a pawnshop in a very small, one light town about 25 miles south of my office. Thursday over lunch I drove down to see if it was still there and it was literally at the bottom of a stack or speakers and combo amps. The...

    IEM problems

We are using an electronic kit, no amps and in ears. It’s expensive startup, but people actually stay for the entire show because their ears aren’t bleeding, it makes you a preferred band to most club owners and venues.
